Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Barth.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I didn’t grow up dreaming of owning a travel business – I grew up being the person people naturally leaned on. Service has always been part of my life. I was eager to help my mom serve tables at the restaurant where she waitressed… starting around the age of five. Looking back, that instinct to help and pay attention to people never really left.
Travel was always personal to me. I loved planning trips for myself, family, friends, and even solo – not just to get away, but to understand other cultures and what makes a place special. I even lived in South America for a period of time and fell in love with their way of life. I believe strongly in balanced travel, but I also want to truly know where I am – to experience destinations in a way that feels thoughtful and local, not rushed or surface-level.
That combination of nearly two decades in customer service and a genuine love for intentional travel led me to create The World Is My Passport. Today, the business is built around caring for clients the way I always have – with attention, warmth, and a deep respect for their time and trust.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely wasn’t a perfectly smooth road – especially in the beginning. I was building the business while working a second job, which meant learning the fine art of time management… and occasionally running on coffee and good intentions.
Finding my niche also took some trial and refinement. Travel is a big space, and it took time to clearly define where I do my best work and how I could serve clients most intentionally. Along the way, I’ve continually fine-tuned my process – adjusting, improving, and simplifying – all to create an experience that feels calm, thoughtful, and genuinely supportive.
Those early challenges helped shape the business into what it is today, and I’m better for having worked through them.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The World Is My Passport is a boutique travel business, but at its heart, it’s really about taking care of people. I design trips for couples and families who work hard and want their time away to feel both special and genuinely restful – not overpacked or stressful.
I’m known for being very hands-on and intentional. I take time to understand how my clients like to travel, what matters to them, and what doesn’t. From there, I build experiences that balance comfort, culture, and those moments that help you feel like you’re really getting to know a place – not just passing through it.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is the trust my clients place in me. They know I’m thinking through the details, advocating for them, and making sure they feel supported every step of the way. I want readers to know that my business is about creating travel that feels calm, personal, and meaningful – the kind you come home from saying, “That’s exactly what we needed.”
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people are surprised to learn that I’m not constantly dreaming about my next trip. I love travel deeply, but I’m also someone who values rest, routine, and being fully present at home. Travel, for me, is about balance – not escape.
That perspective shapes my work. I don’t believe in packing every moment or chasing trends. I focus on trips that allow space to breathe, connect, and actually enjoy where you are. It’s not about doing more – it’s about doing what matters most.
