Hidden Gems: Meet Shaniqua Horstead of HerKingdomBrand

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Shaniqua Horstead.

Shaniqua Horstead

Hi Shaniqua, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I first started my journey back in 2016 when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. Culturally, it has always been taught or believed that once a woman has a baby, her entire life should revolve around protecting and providing for that child.

Although I obviously planned to be the best mother I could, I realized that meant never forgetting ME!!! Being a mother is a beautiful blessing, but it’s not the entirety of my identity, and throughout my life, I have watched the women around me kill their hopes and dreams to become mothers! And I took a vow that the fullness of who God called me to be would be solely reliant on my titles.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. My heart is truly for people, and I aim to make a real difference in the world! That comes with many challenges and obstacles, especially when you’re so vocal about serving God and the Kingdom of Heaven.

It’s uncommon to see people aiming to live a Holy life, a purpose-driven life, but I know my assignment. And the reality is the biggest struggle we oftentimes face, is OURSELVES! If anything, I wish I had believed in myself sooner, I wish I had the willpower to release comparison and fear, because these are some of the biggest stumbling blocks myself and many others face.

As you know, we’re big fans of HerKingdomBrand. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with the brand?
HerKingdomBrand is an organization that focuses on cultivating spaces and programs for women of faith to align spiritual insight with business acumen in the marketplace. We specialize in partnering with women of faith to discover their purpose in the marketplace, develop their brand, and leverage social media to serve and sell.

I am most known for extracting what makes other women brilliant and aiding in cultivating a brand that is authentic, captivating, and transformational. Nothing sets me apart from others, and I think this is a huge misconception! I’m not special, I am just a girl willing do what it takes to fulfill my purpose here on earth. I am most proud of seeing the women we serve go out and change the world through their own brands, products, and services. The events, workshops, and coaching programs we offer are, however, unique in the sense that we believe in branding from the inside out.

We care about the vessels as much as we care about the vision, and although we could teach social media strategy and brand strategy without tending to the heart, the reality is most people find themselves stuck and stagnant due to unhealed trauma, heart wounds, and fear. It’s less about strategy and process in most cases. It’s about believing in yourself, releasing shame and guilt, and healing while you build. Showing up in excellence requires us to avoid bleeding on others.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
I don’t view myself as a “risk-taker” necessarily. I view myself as a person willing to activate my faith! I’m willing to bet everything I have on Jesus Christ because I know that it is in Him that we live, move, and have our being. So, what some people may view as a risk – I do not!

Risk often indicates that something bad could possibly happen. It’s often used to describe a situation that could be dangerous or harmful. And I don’t view any situation as such. I’m going to win every time. I’m going to gain something every time. Even if it’s a tough lesson, it’s a necessary lesson! I think it was Drake who said the only “L” I ever took was lessons. A truth I live by because I know my God cannot fail!
