Hi Terri, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
A few years ago, my life changed almost overnight. Just three weeks after becoming a new mom, I unexpectedly lost my job. At the time, I had been offering mobile spray tans on the side, and what started as extra income suddenly became the way I supported my family. While I was incredibly grateful for the opportunity, I quickly realized the demanding schedule wasn’t sustainable for life with a newborn. I found myself missing precious moments with my son, which forced me to take a step back and ask myself what I truly loved about the business. I realized it wasn’t just spray tanning that I enjoyed, it was helping women feel confident, cared for, and comfortable in their own skin.
That realization became the foundation for Solstice Society. I decided to create an online destination where women could shop thoughtfully curated products that inspire intentional self-care. Looking back, what felt like the darkest chapter of my life became the catalyst for my personal growth. Sometimes our greatest setbacks become the beginning of the work we’re meant to do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not! If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that balance isn’t something you find – it’s something you practice. Alongside launching Solstice Society, I also work full-time as an Aesthetic Rep covering North and South Carolina. Juggling a growing business, a demanding career, and life as a toddler mom has been my biggest challenge. I’ve learned that burnout isn’t a badge of honor.
I’ve become incredibly intentional with my time by sticking to a structured schedule and reminding myself that not everything has to be finished today. Whenever possible, I reserve my evenings and weekends for family activities. Building a business is a marathon, not a sprint, and I’ve found that giving myself permission to pause has made me a better entrepreneur, a better mom, and a happier person.

Solstice Society is a modern-day beauty and wellness destination where women can discover thoughtfully curated products across skin and haircare, women’s essentials, and intimate wellness. I carefully hand-select every brand and item in our catalog, making it easier for women to discover high-quality products they can trust in one place. Our mission has always been to remind women that self-care isn’t a luxury, it’s an essential part of living well.
I’m most excited about our ambassador program, where women can apply through our website to receive gifted products and earn commission for sharing brands they genuinely love. Since we ship nationwide, we’ve been fortunate to connect with women from all over the country, and their feedback continues to shape our brand. As our community continues to grow, so does my vision for the program. I hope to create meaningful brand experiences that bring our ambassadors together and foster lasting relationships.
More than anything, I want readers to know that Solstice Society was built with heart. My advice is to invest in learning before you invest in launching. Reach out to professionals in the industry you’re interested in, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to learn from people who have already walked the path you’re on. Spend time researching the platforms, apps, subscriptions, and systems you’ll need to run your business so you can make informed decisions. You’ll never know everything before you launch, but the more prepared you are, the more confidently you can step into entrepreneurship.
