Hi Trish, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Trish, a mom, grandmother, and small business owner since 1997, born and raised in North Carolina.
I, too, am a small business owner who gets the struggle of juggling multiple roles and making smart marketing choices. Since starting my entrepreneurial journey in 1997, I’ve seen the digital landscape transform. Forget sizing up Yellow Pages ads—Google is the modern directory. It’s where customers find reliable info about your business, not social media. Google Maps is the ultimate local marketing tool, leveling the playing field against big brands with hefty SEO and ad budgets that small businesses can’t match.
Google’s Map listings are designed to help local businesses shine in their communities. I teach small business owners how to optimize their Google Business Profile to rank in the top 3 local pack results. It’s a straightforward strategy that demands consistency and a bit of know-how. For businesses that hire me, I ensure it’s done right, because local visibility is non-negotiable.
My passion is independent local pharmacies. I work closely with them, understanding their unique challenges—slim margins, supply chain issues, and PBM hurdles—while they strive to serve their communities.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Is it ever a smooth road? I started Jumpstart Marketing during COVID in 2020. I started out helping people for free who were laying off employees & shut down. The results were outstanding, and this business quickly grew through their referrals. That’s how/why I am here today, growing this business, all through referrals.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Managing Local SEO is very different & far more labor-intensive. vs Organic/Website SEO. Most companies sell ads, work on Website SEO, and may promise strategies that can be difficult to track vs a Google Maps strategy.
Google provides tracking that is available at your fingertips! We also use a third-party analytics dashboard to deep dive & truly understand our progress.
Local SEO updates + Reviews + Google Business Profile Activity = An Awesome Local SEO Google Map strategy!
Don’t forget about Apple Maps & Bing listings as well. These listings need to be accurate, just like your Google Profile. Not only for Google scanning the NAP info. , but also for the consumer using voice search on their iPhones.
We are the Google Business Profile experts. I have yet to come across another company that does exactly what I do.
When a consumer wants facts about your business, they look you up on Google. If they need a product or service and do a general search like “pharmacy near me” or Realtor near me” you need to show up!
What does success mean to you?
I define success as helping small business owners get the results they want by doing what I enjoy every day along with the flexibility I have. Great work-life balance.
