Hidden Gems: Meet Udi Tirosh of Spiffy Ventures LTD

Today we’d like to introduce you to Udi Tirosh.

Hi Udi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey with Spiffy Gear started when I was a photographer and needed some tools that I could not find on the market.

The company’s first “real” product was the Light Blaster – an optical snoot for camera flashes. It is a wonderous device that projects images on photography subjects and backgrounds. We realized this need when we looked for a way to project pictures on models and could not find a strong enough projector.

Since then, the company has evolved into the LED lighting field for photos and video. We are now making some of the world’s most innovative lights, One product is the world’s first cine-grade light wrap, and another extensive line of ours is Spekular, a highly configurable LED tube light.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This is a great question. I met and worked with many great people along the road.

Of course, creating a hardware product is never an easy ride. Creating molds is a significant upfront expanse, and it takes a long time from putting the initial order in until you actually see the products you invented.

Between the time needed and the big expenses, building a hardware product is a rollercoaster.

I would not have it any other way.

Spiffy Ventures make the most awesome lights in the photo and video industry. We pride ourselves in creating unique lights that answer specialty needs in an elegant way.

The team’s prime focus is to meet customer demands in this new and evolving world where professional videographers need access to better and more specialized lights while at the same time meeting the demand coming from the creative explosion that came with putting a camera on every smartphone.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I majored in mass media communication aiming to work for a media or entertaining organization.
