Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Wright
Hi Vanessa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am Vanessa Wright, I’ve been in this beautiful county for almost 17 years, originally from San Miguel, El Salvador. I started my photography journey 5 years ago when my daughter was just 7 months old. At first, I went to client’s homes to capture their specials moments. About a year later, I took a big step and rented my first studio space. Over time, I transitioned to having my own in-home studio, which allows me to create a comfortable and personal environment for my clients. While I do a little bit of everything, I specialize in photographing newborn and children because that’s what I enjoy the most. There’s something truly special about capturing those early stages of life, and I take pride in doing it in a professional and heartfelt way. It’s where my passion and creativity really shine.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting and growing my photography business has been an incredible journey, but it hasn’t always been a smooth road. In the early days, I faced challenges balancing work and family life, especially as a new mom while building my career. Transitioning from doing sessions in client’s homes to renting my first studio space was both exciting and daunting as it came with financial pressures and the need to attract more clients. There were also moments of self-doubt and learning curves whether it was mastering new techniques , investing in better equipment , or navigating the business side of things like marketing and scheduling. But each challenge taught me something valuable and helped me grow both as a photographer and business owner. Those struggles have made me more resilient and more committed to providing the best possible experience for my clients.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in profesional photography dedicated to preserving the beauty and emotion of life’s special moments. I offer a range of services, including newborn photography, children’s milestones, family portraits and maternity sessions. My work focuses on creating timeless, high quality images that families can cherish for generations, all while providing a personalized and comfortable experience for my clients.
I am known for my dedication to capturing the beauty and emotion of life’s most significant milestones, with a strong focus on newborn and children’s photography. What sets me apart is my ability to create a warm, professional environment where families feel comfortable and at ease. I offer a full-service experience for both newborn and milestone sessions, providing everything from customized props and outfits to careful attention to lighting and posing. Whether it’s the delicate details of a newborn or the joyful expressions during a child’s milestone, my goal is to create timeless, high-quality images that families can cherish for years to come. Clients often praise my ability to capture their little ones in a natural, yet beautifully posed way, and I am proud to offer a seamless experience that allows parents to focus on enjoying the moment while I handle all the details.
What I am most proud of, brand-wise, is the strong reputation I’ve built for delivering high quality, personalized photography that families truly cherish. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to establish a brand that reflects not only my technical expertise but also my passion for creating meaningful, timeless images. I am especially proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients , many of them return for multiple sessions as their families grow. I’ve earned their trust by consistently providing a comfortable and profesional experience, from the moment they book their session to the delivery of their final images. Ultimately, what I am most proud of is knowing that my work has a lasting impact on families , preserving their memories in a way that will be treasured for generations. It’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of such significant moments in their lives.
I want readers to understand the true value of professional photography. It’s more than just taking a picture—it’s about capturing moments with care, skill, and artistry that allow you to admire and appreciate the beauty of your family, newborn and children for years to come. While phone cameras are convenient, they simply can’t compare to the attention to detail, composition, and quality that comes with a professional session.
A professional photographer not only knows how to capture your little ones in their best light but also creates an experience where the images are thoughtfully crafted to reflect the uniqueness of your family. These photographs are timeless treasures, carefully composed to showcase your children’s personalities and the love you share as a family. They go beyond a snapshot—they are pieces of art that will stand the test of time and become cherished memories for generations.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
One of the biggest pieces of advice I can offer is to stay patient and persistent. When I first started, I didn’t realize how much time and effort it would take to build both the technical skills and the business side of things. It can be easy to get discouraged, especially in the beginning, when you’re still learning and figuring out what works for you. But with time, practice, and dedication, everything will start to fall into place.
I also wish I had known the importance of building a solid foundation for your business from the start. Things like understanding your target audience, setting clear pricing, and investing in quality equipment and education will save you a lot of headaches down the line. Additionally, networking and building relationships with other photographers and clients is key to growing your business.
Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself—whether that’s through workshops, courses, or simply practicing and experimenting with new techniques. The more you learn and grow, the more confident you’ll become in your craft. Most importantly, stay true to what you’re passionate about. When you focus on what you love, it’ll show in your work and naturally attract the right clients.
