Today we’d like to introduce you to Yimzy Lopez.
Hi Yimzy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Nigeria, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts. After moving to the United States, life took me in a different direction, and I began working in a group home for teenage girls with behavioral challenges. It wasn’t an easy job, but I truly enjoyed supporting them and helping them feel confident and beautiful.
Even though I loved making a difference in people’s lives, I still felt like something was missing—my creative and artistic side. While continuing to work full-time, I enrolled in esthetics school to pursue a career that combined creativity with helping others feel their best.
After becoming licensed, I moved to Raleigh and started my first lash job at a well-known Lash franchise. I gained valuable experience there before eventually deciding to build something of my own. After moving around North Carolina for a while, I settled in Raleigh and opened my own lash studio.
Building a business hasn’t been easy, but it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I’m incredibly grateful that my studio was voted Best Lash Studio in North Raleigh in both 2025 and 2026. That recognition means a lot because it reflects the trust my clients have placed in me.
If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s that success isn’t something you achieve alone. Take the help and support when people offer it—we all need a community. I’m grateful for every experience that has shaped my journey, and I’m excited to continue growing while helping others build successful careers in this industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Moving to the United States meant starting over. I had to adapt to a new culture, build a career from scratch, and figure out what I truly wanted to do.
One of my biggest challenges was believing in myself enough to take the leap into entrepreneurship. I had no blueprint and no guarantee that my business would succeed. There were times when I had very few clients, worried about paying bills, and questioned whether I had made the right decision. As a business owner, I had to become the receptionist, marketer, accountant, social media manager, customer service representative, and lash artist all at once.
Another challenge was learning to lead others. As my business grew, I began training aspiring lash artists. Teaching others forced me to become an even better artist and communicator. Watching my students gain confidence and begin their own careers has become one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.
Looking back, every obstacle helped shape who I am today. Those challenges taught me resilience, patience, faith, and perseverance. They also make achievements like building an award-winning lash studio and being recognized as Best Lash Studio in North Raleigh in both 2025 and 2026 even more meaningful. My journey has taught me that success isn’t about having an easy path—it’s about continuing to move forward even when the path is difficult.

Seeing my students succeed is just as rewarding as seeing my clients leave feeling beautiful.
My vision is to continue raising the standard in the beauty industry by providing exceptional service, high-quality education, and creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels seen, valued, and confident.

What matters most to me is living a life of purpose. I want whatever I do to make a difference in someone’s life. Success, to me, isn’t just about money or awards,it’s about leaving people better than I found them.
I also value faith, family, meaningful relationships, and lifelong learning. I believe every experience, whether good or bad, teaches us something if we’re willing to learn from it.
I want to be remembered as someone who worked hard, treated people with kindness and respect, and used the opportunities I was given to create opportunities for others. If I can inspire someone to believe in themselves or help them change the course of their life, then I know I’ve done something worthwhile.
