Hi Angela, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved decorating and making a house feel warm, welcoming, and lived in. I grew up in the Northeast, where fall wasn’t just a season but a whole feeling, and homes used natural, seasonal elements to enhance their beauty. When I moved to the Triangle, I noticed a gap in that kind of elevated, nature-rooted seasonal styling, which inspired Autumn & Oaks. Coming from a family of small business owners, I’ve learned that when you pursue something you are truly passionate about, it’s worth fully committing to it, because that dedication is what brings your vision to life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road, but I’ve been incredibly grateful for the first year of Autumn & Oaks. I’m surrounded by a supportive community and collaborators who believed in my vision even when I didn’t fully believe in myself. Like most small business owners, I’ve had to wear many hats, and one of the biggest challenges has been learning the operational and marketing side of the business while staying creatively grounded. Promoting a creative business, especially when you don’t love the spotlight, can be vulnerable, but I’m driven by the understanding that if I don’t give my full attention and care to it, no one else will do it the justice it deserves.

Autumn & Oaks is a seasonal styling and porch design studio specializing in elevated, nature-forward exterior decor. From custom planters, window boxes, and curated plant deliveries in the warmer months to fall porch displays and winter holiday installations sourced from local farms, we create timeless designs that enhance a home’s architecture and bring warmth and personality to every season. How do you think about luck?
I believe everything happens for a reason, and I feel very fortunate, but I don’t attribute the growth of Autumn & Oaks to luck alone. Its success has come from hard work, discipline, and a deep commitment to understanding both the product and the client. While there are always external factors outside of your control, I try not to rely on luck to carry the rest and instead focus on the levers I can pull. That mindset has helped me stay grounded, proactive, and intentional as the business continues to grow.
