Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon McLean
Hi Brandon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was fortunate to be raised by strong role models—my father and grandfather—who instilled in me the values of integrity, responsibility, and leadership from a young age. Through generational lessons, they taught me what it truly means to be a man—not just through words, but through actions. They showed me how to grow, face challenges, and build character, shaping me into the person I am today.
But my journey hasn’t been without struggles. I have endured a lot in life, including battling anxiety, but learning how to manage it and no longer feeling ashamed has been a turning point for me. This experience has strengthened my passion for mentorship and drives me to be an advocate for our youth—especially young men—who may be struggling in silence.
Because of these life lessons and personal challenges, I realized that many young men lack the guidance I was blessed to receive. I wanted to be a bridge to help them build confidence, learn essential life skills, and develop into strong, self-sufficient individuals. This is what led me to start my journey in mentorship and ultimately create programs like Who Am I!—to ensure that the next generation is equipped, empowered, and in a better position to succeed.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Along my journey, I’ve battled anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues—constantly questioning if I was good enough. There were times when I felt stuck in my own mind, struggling with self-doubt and the spirit of comparison, measuring my success against others instead of embracing my own path.
One of my biggest struggles was constantly seeking people’s approval, which made me lose sight of who I was and what truly mattered. I spent so much time trying to meet others’ expectations that I forgot to embrace my own strengths, purpose, and identity. That realization was a wake-up call—it showed me that true identity and confidence comes from My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and not from external validation.
Overcoming these struggles wasn’t easy, but learning how to manage them and no longer being ashamed of my challenges became a turning point. I realized that my experiences weren’t just obstacles—they were lessons that shaped me into the person I am today. Now, I use what I’ve been through to help guide and mentor young men, showing them that they, too, can rise above their struggles and build a strong foundation for success. My journey fuels my passion to empower the next generation, ensuring they have the tools and support to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see the mentorship and youth development industry growing significantly, with a greater emphasis on mental health, emotional intelligence, and real-world skill-building. As society shifts, there is an increasing recognition of the importance of mentorship programs that go beyond academics, focusing on leadership, personal development, and life preparedness.
One major trend will be the integration of technology into mentorship, allowing for virtual coaching, digital resources, and online community building to reach more young men beyond local communities. Additionally, I anticipate a stronger push for mentorship in schools, with programs like Teach Me 2 Tie Inc. becoming essential partnerships to help bridge the gap between education and personal development.
Another big shift will be a greater emphasis on mental health support for young men. Conversations around self-esteem, anxiety, and emotional well-being are becoming more mainstream, and mentorship programs will play a critical role in equipping young men with the tools to navigate these challenges.
Overall, I see Teach Me 2 Tie Inc. continuing to grow and evolve with these trends, expanding our reach, strengthening our impact, and ensuring that every young man has access to the mentorship, life skills, and guidance they need to become confident, self-sufficient leaders.
