Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Laurenti.
Catherine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Sorella means “sister” in Italian, and it’s the heart behind everything we do. My sister Sarah and I started our permanent jewelry business together after getting permanent bracelets together the morning of her wedding. Getting permanent jewelry that day wasn’t just about the pieces themselves, it was about marking a milestone and carrying it with us long after the wedding day was over.
That moment stayed with us. We realized how powerful permanent jewelry can be when it’s tied to something personal, whether it’s a wedding, a friendship, motherhood, or simply a season of growth. We wanted to create that same intentional experience for other women.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business is often met with challenges. Thankfully with two of us, we have been able to rely on each other to navigate those challenges.
We do not have a ‘brick and mortar’ so we depend primarily on pop ups, events, and private parties for business. With this, there are so many variable out of your control. Rain and wind can cancel a market you’ve been planning all month for.
One of our biggest learning curves was understanding the markets themselves. Not every event is the right fit. We had to learn how to evaluate foot traffic, target demographics, vendor mix, booth placement, and event promotion.
However, I have learned a valuable lesson that in this type of business: the people you meet and the connections you make are vital. I’ve worked events where I haven’t had high sales, but I’ve made great connections that have led to more business, higher sales, and even friendships.
We’ve been impressed with Sorella Threads , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sorella is a sister-founded permanent jewelry brand rooted in connection and intention. We specialize in custom-fit, welded bracelets, anklets, and necklaces designed to mark meaningful moments. What began as a shared experience on a wedding day has grown into a business centered on celebrating milestones, relationships, and personal growth.
We are known for creating an elevated, welcoming experience. Permanent jewelry is not just a transaction for us. It is a moment. Whether we’re at a wedding, a private event, or a vendor market, we focus on making each appointment feel personal and thoughtful. From helping clients choose a chain that reflects their style to offering custom Morse code pieces that carry private meaning, everything is done with care.
Our materials are a core part of what sets us apart. We work primarily with 14k gold filled and .925 sterling silver, offering high-quality, long-lasting pieces without the intimidating price point of solid gold. We are intentional about selecting chains and connectors that feel timeless rather than trendy. Our aesthetic leans refined and classic, allowing the meaning behind the piece to take center stage.
Brand-wise, we are most proud of the heart behind Sorella. The name reflects our foundation as sisters, but it has grown to represent the community of women who sit at our table. We have been intentional about building a brand that feels warm, elevated, and experience-driven. From our display to our communication to the way we show up at events, every detail is considered.
What we want readers to know is that Sorella is about more than jewelry. It is about marking a moment in a tangible way. Whether it is a bride getting ready with her bridal party, friends commemorating a season of life, or a woman choosing something meaningful for herself, we are honored to be part of those memories.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
One book that’s had a lasting impact on me is The Obstacle Is the Way by Ryan Holiday. The message about turning challenges into opportunities really resonates, especially in a business built around markets and live events where unpredictability is part of the job. It’s a reminder to stay adaptable and have perspective.
And for balance, I love the podcast SmartLess. It’s my go-to for laughter.
