Today we’d like to introduce you to Cedisha Steverson.
Hi Cedisha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started doing Eyelash extensions during the global pandemic 2020. A little background about me I graduated high school in 2017. Once I graduated, I had plans to become a dental hygienist. I Heard about a dental assistant program that would help me get my foot in the door in the field. I took the course and started working as a dental assistant while in school to become a dental hygienist. After a year of working and going to, I no longer had a passion for it. I felt so missable and hopeless. I wanted to quit my job every single day. I couldn’t talk to anyone because how would I quit with no plan on what to do next? Not to mention I was getting so underpaid. I could barely afford my bills at the time. This went on for about another year. Then the pandemic hit in March 2020. My job at the time had laid everyone off. I was so happy. During this time, I told myself I would find something I like to do instead of being miserable at 20. I wrote down everything I enjoyed doing and just started researching the school, salary, and work-life balance. I came across Esthetic and fell in love. I’ve always enjoyed self-care or trying different things to make you feel good about yourself, but I never knew it could be a career. Now I’m literally at the point of watching videos of different estheticians on YouTube.
I finally found it. After that, I enrolled in esthetician school without a doubt that I could do this. In May 2020, I got called back to work, just sitting and thinking about how my life would be in the next year. After that thought, something hit me and told me to take a lash class. I was taking the class the following weekend. In October 2020, I got fired with only 4 months of lashing. I was still trying to figure lashes out and still building a clientele. But I had faith in myself. It was scary. Now 2 years later, I have my very own storefront and full clientele.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
NO, I took classes from people who should not be teaching. When I first started, I had no idea what I was doing. But it taught me you couldn’t be cheap when investing in your business. I also struggled with a lot of different things. I knew running a Business was a lot, and there is no blueprint on what’s right and wrong.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lax Lash Beauty Studio?
My business is where women can come in, relax and unwind while getting their services done. We offer a massage at your appointment with wine as well. Lax Lash Beauty Studio is known for eyelash extension services. What sets us apart is that we strive for excellent customer service and give each client a great customer experience. We will add new services to expand our menu as we move into our new location. My brand doesn’t come off as a franchise or a get-in, get-out type of salon. Here relationships are built with the stylist and clients who walk through our doors.
How do you define success?
I define success as waking up and being able to enjoy what you do every single day, Without stressing over money or bills being paid. Materialist things can not compare to your peace and happiness.
