Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanasia Clarke.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2020, two major things happened to me. I lost my grandmother, and I also had a major back surgery that left me with four screws and a brace connecting me from my hips to my upper body. Fast-forward a year later, I’m grieving my grandmother and I don’t know what sparked, but I decided to start a business. March 1, 2021 was her birthday and I spent every year with her for her birthday so it was really hard for me. March 3 was the day I created Asia‘s Kitchen of love LLC. I wanted to pour the love that I have for her into the thing that I love to do the most which was cooking. I started off selling homemade sauces and pastries. But then I got asked to do a healing retreat from my sister-in-law Janell, and I fell in love with being a private Chef. The ease of meeting different people, and connecting over our love and passion for food. It was new, It was exciting and uplifted my soul. But in the back of my head, I always wanted a food truck. That was my goal as a nine-year-old girl who just discovered the joy of cooking.
In 2022 during the pandemic, I bought a food truck from a dear friend Anthony and his brother and I was happy. That was short live because I couldn’t find anyone to help me renovate to what I needed it to be. I ended up selling it and just focused on doing my private chef events for the next three years. I’ve done over 300 events so far and counting I will be at 400 by the end of this year. But that wasn’t enough for me. I still have the wanting of my food truck and the way God works. Is you tell him what you want and you do the work towards it. Everything been lined up this past March. I found someone who is willing to rent me the truck I got the truck graded. I passed with flying colors. I have an A. I’m excited what is to come ahead. The road wasn’t easy, but it was the path that I was destined to take. Having my husband as my partner has been a blessing and we have been able to elevate and continue to grow and do what we love, loving on others.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been far from a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change a thing. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, the occasional a fib episode. I would do events and then sometimes check into the hospital right after, get back out and do it all over again. I didn’t have to be a Chef. I do have an extensive education background. I was an accountant. I’m great with numbers, but food is my love language. but the one thing that I will say is that while doing these events, I never felt any pain during it was almost like I was gliding through the event like you know, they say the footprints in the sand, but it wasn’t mine that’s how it felt. I’m just grateful to God that he gave me the mercy to do the things that I love and that I’m able to even stand and let alone walk.
I have been denied by every bank every loan place that you can imagine. No one believed in a dream and I really felt like no one believed in me, but I believe in me I created a six figure business in just one year and I knew that anything was possible. I got hired as a chef for a lady named Belinda. It was for her friend and we just connected on a deep level. I had started a GoFundMe for working for my food truck and it just felt like again. It wasn’t going to happen. I sent around the link to everyone. She called me and she said I’m gonna invest the whole thing. I thought she was crazy but she was serious. We created a contract. She signed it and she invested in me and now I’m able to do the thing that I love most. Be creative and feed people quality food
As you know, we’re big fans of Asia’s Kitchen of Love LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a private chef, specializing and creating personalized experiences for my clients. I’m also a food truck owner and I just cook and lead with my heart. I believe that quality should always be a priority over quantity and just doing what you love will have you in the right path of where you’re supposed to be.
I think the thing that sets me apart is that I am me all the time. And I literally mean me all the time but you see is what you get. I’m goofy. I’m lovable. I’m a comedian. I love hard, I give just as much and I don’t expect anything in return I just genuinely want to show love because that’s all my grandmother ever gave to me. We all deserve to feel what love feels like without wanting something in return and that’s what I give.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future is God’s plans for my future. I just look forward to the path that will be set out for me and I will continue to do the work and just be a good person overall cause that’s all we can do. Be kind to a stranger because you never know who that stranger may be.
