Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Murray.
Hi Danielle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey began during my junior year of college when I landed an internship with LiveThe.Biz, a company dedicated to connecting independent artists with industry professionals through events and panels. That experience opened my eyes to my passion for social media marketing—something I’d already been dabbling in by curating playlists and sharing them on a dedicated Instagram page. The positive response kept me going, and as a lifelong music lover, it felt like the perfect creative outlet. At the time, I was studying Public Relations and searching for ways to merge my degree with my interests. I finally saw the overlap and set my sights on roles in the entertainment/music industry, though things didn’t quite pan out as planned. After graduation, I found myself in market research at a CBD company. It was a solid first ‘big girl’ job… until the pandemic hit and my entire department was laid off. At first, I was crushed. But once the initial shock wore off, I realized it was a chance to reset. With severance (and unemployment) in hand, I took the risk and launched my business, Humble Nature Consulting, that November. Since then, I’ve worked with countless clients, learned countless lessons, and discovered how to embrace the journey and trust the process.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
HA! Absolutely not. I never saw myself as an entrepreneur. I’d taken marketing courses since high school, so business basics weren’t completely foreign but let’s just say I fumbled my way through plenty of rookie mistakes. No contracts? Check. Quitting my 9-5 with barely a safety net? Yep. Weak boundaries, payment disputes, and so much more? Oh, I went through it!
I dove in with no blueprint, no lifejacket – just my faith in God and a stubborn belief I’d figure it out eventually. I understand that most people quit when it gets too hard but I’ve learned the art of a pivot and made the decision that I will continue to pivot until it all works out for me. I’m still not perfect and some days I’m just winging it. But that’s the thing: when you know better, you do better.
As you know, we’re big fans of Humble Nature Consulting. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The name Humble Nature Consulting is a tribute to my father, who passed in 2017. I’ve always admired the way he moved through life—grounded, genuine, and full of quiet strength. People often tell me I carry his spirit, so naming my business after something I felt he’d resonate with just made sense. When I first launched, I focused on helping small business owners boost their brand awareness, grow their following, and create content that truly connected. But after taking time to reflect on who I really wanted to serve, I made a pivot at the top of the year: now, I specialize in music marketing. My mission is to help independent artists build loyal fanbases through strategic content and personalized marketing plans.
I’m known for keeping it 100 with my clients, pushing them to show up consistently and authentically so they can reach the audience that’s already searching for what they offer.
What am I most proud of? Staying unapologetically me. I share what moves me—whether it’s a song I’m obsessed with, a podcast that’s got me thinking, or my hot take on the latest rap beef. No boxes, no labels—just a multi-hyphenate who’s capable of way more than people expect. And trust me, I’m just getting started.
My approach is 100% artist-first. No cookie-cutter templates, no fill-in-the-blank strategies—just tailored plans built for your journey. I can’t promise overnight virality (let’s be real, no one can), but I can promise you’ll walk away with the tools, strategy, and mindset to make it happen. The rest?
That’s on you—and I’ll be right there to hold you accountable.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Sure!
1. Don’t leave your 9-5 until you can sustain yourself for at least 6 months without a single sale or client. Just trust me.
2. ALWAYS HAVE A CONTRACT. Get it in writing!
3. Just start. You can perfect it later.
4. Don’t be afraid to be seen trying.
5. Chase your purpose, not the money. All money ain’t good money.
