Inspiring Conversations with Devin Hall of Building Buddies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devin Hall.

Hi Devin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been fascinated by Lego bricks since I was a little kid. Bricks themselves are just like people. They come in all sizes, shapes, and colors, but no matter the size, shape, and color legos will always connect, just like people can. Growing up a dreamer, anything that would come into my mind, I would sit down and try to build it; that was my escape. As time has progressed, having been a teacher and former summer camp director working with children has been a part of my professional life for the past 20 years, I saw a need for kids to get back to the basics. I have over half a million bricks sitting in my Lego shed and felt it was time for action. The biggest push for building buddies was when I encountered a completely silent family because every person was on a device. In my opinion, that’s not how connections are made Building Buddies provides bricks and programming for children and adults to grow more personal connections with friends, families, and colleagues. We offer STEAME+C leadership programming and team building to enhance life skills that are needed to meet everyday challenges. Building Buddies is currently working on providing STEAM leadership with local businesses along with public and private schools, churches, corruptions, and festivals. Building Buddies truly believes in building a better community one brick at a time. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It, unfortunately, has not been a smooth road. The road to susses is paved with failure. For every good idea, there are ten bad ones. The key is to just get up and keep on building. Every failure is a lesson learned, and every lesson gets you closer to where you need to be.
