Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Grant.
Hi Faith, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t start in real estate because I wanted to sell houses. I started because I’ve always been drawn to how things are built and how people connect to them.
Before real estate, I spent years in music as a band instrument repair technician. That work taught me patience, precision, and how to really listen — not just to sound, but to people. You can’t rush a repair, and you can’t fake quality. That mindset stayed with me.
My husband and I later began restoring older homes, and that same curiosity showed up again. I fell in love with the craftsmanship, the history, and the stories inside the walls. What started as hands-on restoration turned into friends and neighbors asking for help with their renovations and opinions of properties they were interested in learning more about, and eventually into a career that felt like a natural extension of who I already was.
What I value most is the relationships. My clients aren’t transactions — they become friends. and extension of family. We stay connected long after closing, celebrating life changes, renovations, and milestones together. That trust and continuity is the foundation of my business.
Today, I get to blend creativity, strategy, and service. I help people navigate big life moves with clarity and care, while staying deeply rooted in my community through preservation and local involvement. Where I am now is the result of doing meaningful work, building lasting relationships, and never losing sight of the people at the center of it all.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road, but I don’t think the most meaningful paths ever are.
Building a business that’s rooted in creativity, relationships, and trust requires flexibility. I’ve had to learn how to adapt through market shifts, growth seasons, and moments where I needed to redefine what leadership looked like for me. One of the most transformative changes was becoming a mom. Welcoming our son, Archer, reshaped how I think about time, focus, and presence in the best way.
That season pushed me to lead more intentionally — with clarity, organization, and a deeper respect for my own energy. I became more decisive, more thoughtful, and more confident in trusting my instincts. Creativity didn’t disappear; it matured. I learned how to build systems that support both my work and my life, instead of competing with it.
Every challenge along the way has strengthened my ability to lead with purpose and empathy. Those moments weren’t roadblocks — they were refinements that helped shape my business, my leadership style, and the life I’m proud to be growing with my family alongside me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Realtor with The Carter + Smith Group at Howard Hanna Allen Tate Real Estate?
At its core, my business is built on advocacy, trust, and real relationships.
I work with buyers and sellers across all stages of life, and what sets me apart is how deeply I work for my clients’ best interests. Every client gets the same level of attention, strategy, and respect — no matter their budget, background, or experience. I don’t believe in hierarchy when it comes to service. Everyone deserves to feel seen, informed, and supported during such an important life decision.
I’m known for being hands-on, honest, and highly invested. I take the time to educate my clients, advocate fiercely on their behalf, and guide them through the process with clarity and calm. For many, that turns into long-term relationships that continue well beyond the transaction — and that continuity is something I’m incredibly proud of.
Beyond my real estate work, I’m a founding member of Preservation Alamance (formerly, Preservation Burlington), where I’ve spent countless hours alongside members and volunteers protecting local history. That includes everything from advocacy and education to physically salvaging architectural elements from homes before they’re lost. That work matters to me because it’s about honoring people, stories, and community — not just property.
I’m most proud that my brand reflects those same values. I want readers to know that working with me means having someone in your corner who listens closely, works thoughtfully, and treats your goals as if they were her own. My work is personal, inclusive, and deeply rooted in service. Real estate is the platform, but stewardship — of people and place — is the mission.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Discernment, guided by integrity.
Knowing when to push, when to pause, and when to advocate firmly is essential in this work. I take time to listen, read situations carefully, and make thoughtful decisions that protect my clients’ long-term interests — not just the immediate win.
I don’t advise clients based on what’s easiest or best for me. I guide them based on what’s right for them, even when that means slowing things down, asking harder questions, or recommending a different path altogether. That level of honesty builds trust, and trust is ultimately what drives lasting success.
