Today we’d like to introduce you to Kita McFadden.

Hi Kita, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My entrepreneurial journey began in 2013 with a simple idea. At the time, bling cell phone cases were becoming very popular, and I wanted one for myself. After searching everywhere and not finding the style I envisioned, I thought, “Why not make one myself?” My first case wasn’t perfect, but I knew that if I wanted to turn this into a business, my designs had to be unique and stand out.

That idea led me to open my Etsy shop, MyKandyLandByKita, where I turned my love for all things bling into a business. My shop featured rhinestone phone cases, compact mirrors, makeup accessories, and just about anything that could sparkle. My slogan was, “You name it, I bling it.” Customers loved the creativity behind my products, and my shop quickly became known for its unique, personalized designs.

In 2019, I shifted my business into creating paper crafts, specializing in custom party favors, centerpieces, and event décor. That decision became a major turning point for my business. Some of my best-selling products included custom baby shower game booklets, coloring books, shoe box favors, and many other personalized creations.

As my business grew, so did my presence on social media. I found so much joy in helping families celebrate birthdays, graduations, baby showers, weddings, and other special milestones with unique, custom-designed products. Since then, I’ve continued to expand my product line, challenge myself with fresh and innovative designs, and stay on top of the latest trends so I can consistently offer my customers something truly special.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building my business hasn’t always been easy. I’ve balanced entrepreneurship alongside a full-time career while raising a family, but I’ve never let go of my passion for creating. There have been seasons when sales slowed down—and even times when I didn’t receive any orders at all. Those moments were discouraging, but instead of giving up, I used them as an opportunity to learn, improve my products, and find new ways to reach customers.

Every challenge has taught me something new and pushed me to keep growing, both personally and professionally. More than a decade later, I’m still driven by the same creativity that inspired me to make my very first phone case. My mission is simple: to create unique, high-quality products that help people celebrate life’s special moments and leave a lasting impression.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
MyKandyLandByKita, specialize in creating custom party favors, event décor, and personalized gifts that help bring my customers’ visions to life. Whether it’s a birthday, baby shower, graduation, wedding, or another special occasion, I believe every celebration deserves unique details that make it unforgettable.

What sets my brand apart is the attention to detail and the personal touch I put into every order. I pride myself on creating one-of-a-kind designs rather than repeating the same products over and over. Every celebration is unique, and I believe the designs should be too. Unless a customer specifically requests the same design again, I create each order from scratch to reflect their vision, theme, style, and personality. That means no two orders are exactly alike.

From party favors and centerpieces to personalized keepsakes, every item is designed with creativity, quality, and care. My goal is to create pieces that not only make an event beautiful but also leave families with lasting memories they can cherish long after the celebration ends. I want every customer to feel like their celebration is one of a kind, because to me, it truly is.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built with my customers over the years. Many have returned to me for multiple celebrations, trusting me to be a part of some of their most important milestones. That loyalty means everything to me because it shows that my work has made a lasting impression.

Above all, I want readers to know that MyKandyLandByKita is more than a party favor business. It’s a brand built on creativity, passion, and the joy of helping people celebrate life’s biggest moments. My goal is for every customer to open their order and feel excited, knowing they received something that was thoughtfully created just for them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’m a very spiritual person, so I don’t typically use the word “luck.” I believe I’ve been blessed. My business has been blessed with opportunities, loyal customers, and the ability to continue growing and evolving over the years.

I believe every opportunity has come at the right time and for a reason. I’m grateful for every customer who has trusted me to be a part of their special moments and for every lesson that has helped me grow as both an entrepreneur and a person. My faith keeps me grounded, reminds me to stay patient during every season, and encourages me to keep creating with purpose.

As I continue this journey, my prayer is that MyKandyLandByKita continues to grow, inspire others to pursue their passions, and be a blessing to everyone it serves.
