Today we’d like to introduce you to Luan Do.
Hi Luan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Luan (Loon) K. Do and I was born in Vietnam. My family came to America (specifically NC) when I was 13 months old.
I spent most of my upbringing in Greensboro, NC and have always been obsessed with YouTube since the early days of inception in the late 2000s.
After some time, I decided to pursue YouTube as a hobby in my early 20s. Next thing you know, it developed into a full side hustle making extra income and also connecting me with some of the coolest friends I have til this day.
On top of this, I also own a nail salon in Greensboro NC that is my main income. I also kept my insurance license from my first job out of college, occasionally helping clients out find the best rates for their personal and business insurance.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This is tough to say as it depends solely on perspective. My family grew up extremely poor as refugees from Vietnam.
Dealing with financial struggles and being from a varied background in the late 90s-early 2000s had its negatives. However, I’ve been lucky to live an amazing life surrounded by amazing people.
I don’t think my struggles are anything that was too daunting as I’ve been able to be successful and live a fun life thus far.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
If we’re talking about my physical business, I overtook my sister’s nail salon, Serenity Nails & Spa Greensboro that was founded 11 years ago. We’re a nail salon that prides itself on providing a fun, engaging and family like vibe to people’s salon needs!
As for my YouTube channel, Loon K Do. My channel’s content varies heavily on whatever I’m in the mood for, but it would generally be considered a Commentary channel. I make videos on pressing topics, drama, crazy Reddit reads, and whatever else I’m feeling for the day. I’ve been lucky enough to build a core audience that supports a majority of my videos!
How do you define success?
Every person will have a different meaning to success. Personally, I view success and feeling happy with where you are in life. I also think the meaning of success is ever changing for someone based on the stage they’re at in life.
