Inspiring Conversations with Nicole Firth of Timeless Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Firth.

Hi Nicole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Living in Nashville, TN. I fell in love with concerts, events, and just an all-around good party vibe. That is when I decided to obtain my certification in event planning. I moved to Fairbanks, AK shortly after that and started working for a wedding planner as a part-time assistant.

I did everything from cleaning and organizing decor stock to assisting on the day of with timelines and set up. Being a part of a wedding day was magical. It was fun, exciting, challenging, and creative. It was everything I wanted out of my career goals. A few years later, I ended up moving to Raleigh, NC, where I decided to open up my own business in 2017, called Timeless Events. I started small with 3 to 4 weddings the first year, grew to 10-15 weddings the second, and so forth.

By creating relationships with local companies, owner-operator companies, and venues throughout the state of North Carolina, I’ve been able to build Timeless Events as one of the leading planning companies in the Triangle area. With the help of my amazing team, we’ve been able to coordinate 100s of events since 2017 and ensure our clients have a memorable wedding day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If anyone tells you it’s a smooth ride, they are lying. Every journey has its challenges and mine is no different. I started Timeless Events while working a full-time job. I would be up to two or three in the morning finalizing wedding details just to get up at 6 am and go into the office.

Eventually, I was able to quit my full-time job and then quit the part-time job too, to run Timeless Events as my sole focus. It was scary then and it’s still scary now. I still worry about booking enough clients to be successful. I still worry about ensuring my staff is happy with their roles. And I still worry that one day something could go wrong that takes my dream job away from me. But that’s part of the risk and owning your own business. It’s scary but it’s exciting all at the same time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Timeless Events is a planning company that specializes in weddings and events pertaining to weddings such as rehearsal dinners, sangeets, welcome parties, and bridal showers. We are known for providing planning services along with our decor stock to help design the entire event. I am the proudest of our reputation of “all hands on deck.”

Simply put, we do not believe in standing there with a clipboard and telling people what to do on the day of the event. We deliver, help set up, move tables and chairs if needed, and at times even bus the tables. We believe a wedding and event is the responsibility of everyone hired. It’s our job to ensure our client’s event goes smoothly and everyone is having a great time. Therefore, you’ll never hear us say “it’s not our job.”

I would love for the readers to know that we offer decor along with our planning services and that we work with them to bring out their personalities and their stories into each event.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the growth Raleigh is seeing. Every weekend there seems to be an event happening in Raleigh or in one of the cities surrounding it. We can take in a hockey game and then hit up an art festival downtown the following day.

As a person who loves a good party, there is no better place to live. Unfortunately, that means traffic is going to be insane. And as much as I love listening to a good wedding business podcast in my car, I hate to be stuck in traffic.
