Inspiring Conversations with Nicole Quarto of Crown Tile & Marble LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Quarto.

Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Antonio Quarto has been working with tile since childhood. Originally from Calabria, Italy, where marble and tile craftsmanship run deep in his family roots, the trade is truly in his DNA. At 18, he joined Local 7 in New York and quickly advanced to foreman, leading teams of over 100 union workers on major projects such as Hudson Yards.

Driven by a lifelong dream of owning his own business—and with the support of his family—Antonio relocated to North Carolina, where he founded Crown Tile and Marble. For over five years, his company has transformed more than 100 kitchens and bathrooms, earning a reputation for quality, precision, and timeless design.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Operating in an increasingly competitive market has presented its share of challenges for Crown Tile and Marble. As more contractors relocate to the area, the industry has become oversaturated, making it difficult for small businesses to stand out. Rising material costs add another layer of pressure, testing both margins and resilience. Perhaps the greatest challenge, however, lies in helping consumers recognize the true value of quality craftsmanship—work that reflects skill, precision, and pride rather than just the lowest price.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
What should we know? What do you do, what do you specialize in / what are you known for?
Crown Tile and Marble specializes in custom tile and marble installations for kitchens and bathrooms. Known for precision craftsmanship and timeless design, the company brings decades of hands-on experience and a deep appreciation for traditional artistry to every project.

What sets you apart from others?
What truly sets Crown Tile and Marble apart is its commitment to quality over quantity. Every project is treated as a unique piece of art—never rushed, never cookie-cutter. With Antonio’s background in the union trades of New York and his Calabrian roots in marble craftsmanship, the business combines old-world skill with modern design sensibility. The result is a level of detail and durability that stands out in an increasingly crowded market.

What are you most proud of, brand-wise?
The brand’s greatest pride lies in the trust it has built with homeowners across North Carolina. Over the past five years, Crown Tile and Marble has transformed more than a hundred kitchens and bathrooms, with much of its growth coming from word-of-mouth referrals—a true testament to the quality of its work and the satisfaction of its clients.

What do you want our readers to know about your brand, offerings, services, etc.?
Crown Tile and Marble is more than a renovation company—it’s a family-driven business built on craftsmanship, integrity, and personal service. Every project is tailored to the client’s vision, combining beauty and functionality with materials meant to last. Whether it’s a full remodel or a simple tile upgrade, Crown Tile and Marble delivers work that enhances both the home and the homeowner’s daily life.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
For Antonio, mentorship has never been about formal titles or structured programs—it’s been about learning through experience and observation. From a young age, he surrounded himself with skilled tradesmen who took pride in their craft, and he absorbed their work ethic, precision, and respect for quality. Those early lessons became the foundation for how he leads and builds his business today.

Networking, for Antonio, follows that same principle of authenticity. He’s built strong relationships with suppliers, fellow contractors, and clients by staying true to his word and consistently delivering on his promises.
