To give you some background, during my college years, I knew I wanted to start a business but was unsure of the type. It was important for me to choose a venture aligned with my passions and interests rather than pursuing a quick financial gain that wouldn’t bring genuine enjoyment. My love for home-scented products inspired me to try my hand at candle-making.
In early 2020, I bought the necessary supplies and discovered a real enjoyment for the craft. This led to the launch of The Scent Spot in November 2020, initially offering soy wax melts, soy wax candles, and car fresheners. Since then, The Scent Spot has expanded its product line to include other scented goods like carpet fresheners, room sprays, and shower steamers.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Running a business is never a smooth journey. It would be misleading to claim that everything has been easy. For a long time, I managed every aspect of the business myself—from social media and production to content creation, shipping, and setting up at pop-up shops.
Managing social media became particularly challenging; while the pandemic initially gave me plenty of time to engage consistently across various platforms, that changed as time went on. To help alleviate the workload, I hired a social media manager.
Additionally, like all businesses, we experience both peak and slow seasons. Navigating the slow periods effectively is crucial to achieving any financial goals set for the company.

I serve as the CEO and Founder of The Scent Spot, a company dedicated to creating scented goods free from chemicals and toxins. Our products, which are handmade and poured, are celebrated for their enduring fragrances and excellent burn or melt durations, alongside exceptional customer service and prompt delivery.
We pride ourselves on producing captivating scents that stimulate the senses. Over time, I have been gratified by our company’s growth and my own evolving insights into entrepreneurship.
