Hi Sandra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My career in matchmaking began in 1996, long before dating apps transformed how people meet. I earned my degree in Speech Communications and Organizational Management because I have always been fascinated by what makes relationships succeed and what causes them to fail. Early in my career, I realized that introducing two people was only a small part of the equation. Truly understanding who they are, how they communicate, and what they need in a life partner is what creates lasting relationships.
After more than two decades in the industry, I co-founded Select Date Society with my business partner, Amber Lee, in 2020. We launched just six months before the pandemic, during a time when many questioned whether a relationship-focused business could succeed. Rather than following the traditional matchmaking model, we built something entirely different. We created an intentionally small, highly personalized firm serving successful, accomplished singles around the world.
Today, we work with fewer than 30 clients each year, many of whom are millionaires, billionaires, founders, executives, and public figures. Every client is personally interviewed by one of the founders, and we intentionally limit the number of clients we accept to provide an exceptional level of service and complete discretion.
Over the years, our work has been featured in publications including Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Newsweek, Vogue, Time Magazine, USA Today, and Business Insider. While those recognitions are meaningful, the greatest reward is seeing our clients build the kind of relationships they once believed were out of reach.
Looking back, I never imagined this path would lead here. What started as a passion for helping people find meaningful relationships has evolved into one of the world’s most exclusive boutique matchmaking firms. Through every chapter, one thing has remained constant. I believe that finding the right partner is one of the most important decisions a person will ever make, and I consider it a privilege to help extraordinary people find extraordinary love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any entrepreneurial journey, it has certainly not been smooth. Launching a company just months before a global pandemic was something no one could have planned for. At a time when the world was shutting down, we were building a business centered around human connection. Instead of seeing it as a setback, we viewed it as an opportunity to rethink what high-end matchmaking could look like.
One of our biggest challenges has also become one of our greatest strengths. We made the decision to remain intentionally small rather than chasing rapid growth. While many companies focus on volume, we chose to focus on excellence. That has meant saying no far more often than we say yes, hiring carefully, protecting our clients’ privacy, and never compromising on the level of service we provide.
There have also been challenges that come with serving highly successful individuals. Our clients have demanding schedules, global lifestyles, and understandably high expectations. Meeting those expectations requires constant innovation, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to delivering a truly personalized experience.
Every challenge has reinforced the same lesson. Success is not about avoiding obstacles. It is about staying true to your values, continuing to improve, and never losing sight of why you started. Those experiences have shaped both me and our company into what we are today.

I am also proud that we have built our company without outside investors or a sales team. Our growth has been fueled entirely by results and referrals, earning us a No. 639 ranking on the Inc. 5000 list. Along the way, we have also had the privilege of being invited to sponsor a TEDx event, an opportunity that reflected the relationships we have built within our community. Most importantly, we have remained true to our mission of helping extraordinary people build extraordinary relationships that stand the test of time.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
If I had to identify one quality that has contributed most to my success, it would be persistence. I grew up with humble beginnings, and that taught me the value of hard work, resilience, and the belief that opportunities are earned, not given. I have never been afraid to put in the work or keep going when things become difficult.
I also believe one of the best decisions I ever made was choosing the right business partner. Amber Lee and I have very different strengths, and rather than competing with one another, we complement each other. Our mutual respect, shared values, and ability to trust one another have allowed us to build something far greater than either of us could have built alone.
Success rarely comes from one defining moment. It comes from showing up every day with a no-quit mindset, continuing to learn, surrounding yourself with people whose strengths complement your own, and staying committed to your vision even when the path is uncertain.
