Inspiring Conversations with Sean Hammonds of Foundations Health and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Hammonds.

Hi Sean, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a blue-collar family outside of Youngstown, Ohio, where I was active and involved in sports my whole life. While planning my future after high school, I met and shadowed a chiropractor who mentored me and opened my eyes to the world of Chiropractic and what it entailed. I have been hooked on Chiropractic ever since. In 2015, after graduating from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, I moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, and enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic. I graduated from Palmer in 2018 and decided to move to North Carolina with my wife, then girlfriend, Morgan, to begin my career.

I worked as an associate at a practice in Clayton for two years and then in Cary for over a year, gaining knowledge and experience. While working in Cary, I also decided to open my business doing travel work for many different chiropractic businesses statewide. This allowed me to experience many different business styles and treatment interventions while mastering my craft. After moving to Fuquay Varina in 2020, I decided it was finally time to open my own office. In September 2021, my dreams became a reality. Foundations Health and Wellness focuses on active individuals of all ages and athletes who deal with various injuries or want to stay healthy and prevent injuries. At Foundations Health and Wellness, we offer chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue work, massage therapy, and dry needling. We take pride in implementing treatment interventions specific to each patient to quickly get them out of pain and back to doing the things they love.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth journey. As I’m sure many other business owners can relate, I did not grow up in a privileged position of money and had zero funds to open a business. This means I had to start from the very bottom and scratch. The first few years, I made the bare minimum as a chiropractor in a new place where I knew no one, lived in a shoebox-sized apartment with paper-thin walls and unfortunately experienced letdowns and hard lessons. I originally hoped to open an office in 2020; however, due to the pandemic was forced to wait until 2021.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk about your work. What should we know?
I own Foundations Health and Wellness, a Chiropractic office in beautiful downtown Fuquay-Varina. We specialize in treating active individuals of all ages/athletes with sports-related injuries. At Foundations Health and Wellness, we strive to decrease pain, increase range of motion and mobility, and improve the quality of an active lifestyle. Here we provide spinal and extremity adjustments, soft tissue work, and dry needling. We also work very closely with a massage therapist in our office. We are proud of and known for our individualistic approach to treating patients and going the extra mile to care for our patients.

Can you talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy?
A fulfilling career where I get to help people and provide for my family. I get to run a small business where my hard work, blood, sweat, and tears reward me with success. I have always been active and enjoy exercise and being outdoors. I enjoy self-help and business podcasts/books where I can learn and grow. I love meeting/learning about people and hearing their stories sunshine and the beach to relax and forget about the world for a few hours.
