Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamika Pompey.
Hi Shamika, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey long before I realized it was one. I grew up connected to nature, community, and helping people, but I didn’t know those pieces would eventually come together and become my purpose. Over the years, I earned my Bachelor’s in Social Work and continued on to my MSW, building experience in child welfare, community support, and trauma-informed care. Even when the work was challenging, one thing stayed clear—people needed safe spaces, real support, and something deeper than traditional services.
Blu Roses Garden LLC grew out of that understanding and out of my own healing. I own land, I grow my own food, raise animals, and spend time grounding myself in nature. I realized how much peace, clarity, and protection came from the earth, and I wanted to create a way for other people to experience that too. What started as selling plants, eggs, and natural items slowly evolved into a nature-based wellness business where healing, culture, community, and everyday support come together.
Today, Blu Roses Garden LLC is a blend of everything I’ve lived through and learned—social work, nature, spirituality, and entrepreneurship. I offer wellness services, community support, nature-connected products, and simple tools people can use to feel grounded and cared for. My mission is to show people that healing doesn’t have to be complicated; sometimes it starts with a garden, a walk, or a safe conversation.
My journey has been about turning my experiences into something that helps others bloom. I’m still growing, still learning, and still building, but everything I do is rooted in helping people feel supported, empowered, and connected to something real. And that’s what brought me to where I am today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced challenges both personally and professionally. In social work, you see a lot of heavy situations, and trying to support others while also managing my own life, my education, and my responsibilities wasn’t always easy. I’ve had moments where burnout, overwhelm, and lack of resources made me question if I could keep going.
Starting my business added another layer of challenges. I didn’t have a big team, investors, or a blueprint to follow. I had to figure out everything from branding to services to finances on my own. There were times when things moved slowly, when people didn’t understand my vision, and when I felt like I was building something from the ground up with nothing but faith, consistency, and creativity.
On top of that, balancing my MSW program, work responsibilities, and running a business while still taking care of myself has been one of the biggest tests. I’ve had to learn patience, boundaries, and how to trust the process even when the path wasn’t clear.
But every challenge pushed me to grow. Those obstacles shaped the mission behind Blu Roses Garden — creating real support, real wellness, and real community for people who also feel like they’re trying to build something meaningful through struggle. My challenges didn’t stop me; they became part of my purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Blu Roses Garden LLC is a nature-based wellness and community support business that blends gardening, natural living, and healing-centered services. I specialize in helping people feel grounded, supported, and connected through simple, accessible tools—plants, nature, wellness products, and one-on-one support. What makes my brand unique is that it brings together my background in social work with the healing power of land, nature, and everyday practices. I don’t just sell products; I offer experiences and guidance that help people create peace in their homes and in their lives.
Blu Roses Garden is known for its calming, down-to-earth approach. Whether it’s garden supplies, eggs, handmade items, spiritual tools, wellness sessions, or nature-based activities, everything is created with intention, care, and a desire to help people grow. My services include nature-inspired wellness support, supervised exchange/visitation support, community resource assistance, grounding activities, and spiritual wellness offerings. I also sell natural products like eggshell powder, gardening kits, and healing bundles that connect people to the earth.
What sets me apart is that Blu Roses Garden comes from real-life experience—my social work background, my land, my love for nature, and my understanding of how people heal. I focus on creating safe, relatable support for everyday people, especially those who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsupported. My brand is rooted in authenticity, culture, nature, and community.
What I’m most proud of is that I built this from scratch with no blueprint—just faith, resilience, and a genuine passion for helping people bloom. I want readers to know that Blu Roses Garden is more than a business; it’s a healing space, a fresh start, and a resource for anyone looking for grounding, natural wellness, and real support.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising about me is that I’m actually a very quiet, introverted person, yet I run a business centered around community, support, and nature. Most people assume I’m extremely outgoing or that I’ve always had everything figured out, but the truth is that Blu Roses Garden was born out of my own healing, curiosity, and need for peace. I started with just a few chickens, a small garden, and the desire to create calm in my life—and somehow that grew into a wellness brand that now helps other people do the same.
People also don’t expect that I do almost everything myself: the gardening, the product creation, the wellness services, the website, the branding, and the community support. I’m hands-on with everything because it matters to me that my business stays authentic and grounded.
A lot of folks are surprised to learn that I blend social work with nature, spirituality, and everyday living in a way that feels natural, not formal. I didn’t plan it—I simply built the thing I needed, and it turns out a lot of others needed it too.
