Inspiring Conversations with Shaneka Willingham of Nek’s Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaneka Willingham

Hi Shaneka, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2021, I began making products for myself. I started with a turmeric and honey bar, herbal face oil, rosewater, and herbal body butter, I was pleased with the outcome. After sharing my products online, friends expressed a lot of interest and ended up loving the products as well. This unexpected response led to the start of Nek’s Beauty. Initially, my intention was solely to make natural products for myself. I had no plans on starting a business. Reflecting on my journey and the amazing individuals I’ve encountered since then, I am grateful for taking that initial step. This journey has been a rewarding experience filled with valuable connections and growth. I will be locating to 877 E Gannon Ave suite 203 (Zebulon, NC) soon for anyone who is interested in stopping by.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a business has been far more challenging than you might think. There have been days filled with frustration and doubt, periods where I made little to no sales, and the struggle of juggling multiple roles. Having to balance being the social media marketer, the person who fulfills orders, and the person who makes the products takes a toll on me at times.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What truly matters to me is producing top-notch products and keeping my customers satisfied. Their feedback is key; it lets me know I’m on the right track and motivates me to keep going.
