Inspiring Conversations with Sheria Rowe of Business Mogul

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheria Rowe.

Sheria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I used to believe I would have the “perfect” story, more like a fairytale. Go to college, graduate, start a rewarding career, climb the corporate ladder, marry, have a kid, buy a house with a white picket fence, and live happily ever after. My story is not like that. After graduating from college, I immediately started my career in the accounting field. Sounds great, right? No! I was making minimum wage with a B.S. in Accounting; what an embarrassment!

Let’s fast forward. I ended up leaving that job after 30 days. I enrolled in grad school and started working at another company. I LOVED it there, and I credit my business acumen from my first mentor, my immediate supervisor. After a great two years, I was laid off, right when the recession started in 2008. Fast-forwarding again, I ended up working for another company and was miserable the entire four years I was there. I was in the process of finishing my Doctorate and decided to resign.

I haven’t worked in the corporate sector since, and that was in 2012. I started my first business, DRowe Enterprise, which started as a public relations agency and now a business consulting firm. I also became a professor at my undergraduate alma mater, wrote two fictional novels, and started another company, Business Mogul LLC, a business and culture-focused media company.

That’s my story! I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. I dealt with a lot of struggles along the way. My struggles consisted of my own personal battles I had to overcome to shift my mindset. I also realized there’s no way I could be successful in business without having a team.

I struggled with trusting building a team; out of fear of something “messing up”. My businesses are my “babies” and like a mother, I’ve nurtured and seen them grow. A mother never wants to see anything happen to her babies.

We’ve been impressed with Business Mogul LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Business Mogul is a print and digital publication delivering quality editorial and a comprehensive guide of business, technology, money, culture, and lifestyle. Our goal is to educate and inspire our readers to become moguls in their respective industries; and provide the latest trends, products, resources, and news.

We are the go-to source for everything business for multicultural men and women, professionals, and industry trendsetters. Business Mogul was founded with a vision to educate and inspire moguls.

I’m the owner and editor-in-chief of the organization with a vision to bridge the gap between business and culture. The company has been around now for three years, and I’m incredibly proud of its growth. It went from being an online business news site to a digital publication and now print! The team went from 1 (me) to full staff in a matter of two years; that’s a proud moment.

What matters most to you? Why?
My “why” matters most to me. I believe in doing everything with purpose.
