Inspiring Conversations with Steven Bunting of Kustom Hardscape Creation LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Bunting.

Steven, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I think most people dream of working for themselves, Our story had a hard start.
Myself and my wife have 2 sons, 1 that has gone a different way with his life for now and works in IT, the other has taken to the business and works as hard as I do. Everything we build we build for them. We hope one day the business will grow to the point that our boys take over and expand. Maybe one with a hand in the field and one with a hand in all the technical parts like designing the blue prints for each job.
Before we started our business we suffered a tragic lose of our daughter back in 2013. The papers and news called it the accident after the accident. A car accident that resulted in minor injuries at worst and then after getting out of the vehicles (ours and the person that hit us), their car was apparently still in gear and dislodged itself from ours. When is stopped moving our world had changed. Our daughter had been sitting on the ground as my wife was getting the 3 kids from the car and the other vehicle found its final stopping location on top of her before catching fire. Our world was crushed. 12 years later life does not get any easier. Watching our boys grow reminds us of everything she never got to do. We treasure every moment with our boys tho.
I always had jobs in various fields. I found my passion after being out of factory work after the accident in 2013 with hardscaping and worked for a couple great companies learning more and earning my certifications before going out on my own. The Companies taught me a lot and I have built from that and still learn more and more everyday. The main focus is Hardscapes, things like outdoor patios, walkways, driveways, stonework/repair , water features, outdoor kitchens and firepits. When we started there were struggles, the scare of losing it all and getting in over our heads. Slow at first, My first large job was a extreme hoarder yard and home . The property had been that way for a long time and they had finally decided that it was time for a new start. We cleared every piece of trash and rubbish that had piled up over 10 or more years, even cleared and got the property ready for a new house and adjoining covered porch. It was a very satisfying job. we care about our results of honest work and a satisfied client who will call on us for more jobs and refer us to there friends and family. Our business continues to grow everyday with every new job. We care about our work. We even work with some people to do projects in stages to help with their lifestyles and also their cashflow. We offer free bids and i meet every client personally and on time, i have been told that is rare by many clients and they greatly appreciate the in person family friendly service we strive for. I have even been out to many jobs/bids and talked to potential clients with fairly good success on helping them achieve the outdoor goals no matter big or small from honey do lists to full on outdoor oasis we are happy to bring our experience and expertise at a quality and affordable price for anyone we can help.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
