Today we’d like to introduce you to Susanne Morais.
Hi Susanne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a Certified Transpersonal and Spiritual Hypnotherapist. I offer in-person and online, clinical hypnotherapy sessions; group sessions for organizations, teams and small groups; law of attraction workshop and spiritual coaching.
My interest in connecting with people and supporting people in a meaningful way has always been strong. I studied psychology in college and then earned a Masters degree in Kinesiology and Outdoor Recreation. I worked in higher education (Clemson University, Penn State University and North Carolina State University) for 24 years as an Assistant Teaching Professor and a Program Director for outdoor programs.
In the classroom and with the programs I created for undergraduate students over the years, I was deliberate about facilitating connections and developing community. It mattered to me that the students felt seen and heard.
After personally experiencing the transformative benefits of a hypnotherapy session for an issue that I had been dealing with most of my adult life, I just KNEW that I wanted to become a hypnotherapist. I studied to become a Transpersonal and Spiritual Hypnotherapist with the Raleigh School of Hypnosis (now Soul Connection Hypnosis).
Being a hypnotherapist allows me to combine my communication skills, creativity and passion to create customized, meaningful sessions for my clients. This work is in perfect alignment with my strengths, talents, and purpose.
In 2021, I opened Journey Hypnosis. My office is located just off of Glenwood South in downtown Raleigh.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Changing careers at the age of 50 was a big deal. It wasn’t easy making the decision to step away from a long and meaningful and secure profession but in my heart I was certain that it was time for change. My family was very supportive.
I have no regrets. I have so much energy and passion for what I’m doing. It’s fun to go to work each day. My clients are wonderful. Every session is beautiful and unique, and so interesting.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The range of issues that can be addressed with hypnotherapy is expansive. I see many clients for emotional issues that have been impacting their lives for a long time – like the “people-pleaser” client who had been living most of her life for others while neglecting herself. Within three-sessions, the client shed that part of her and was able to create an optimal balance for herself and her family.
Fears and Phobias are generally easy to address in hypnosis. I enjoy sharing the story about the client who had an intense fear of dogs and then went out and adopted a dog 3-days later. And the client who had a fear of flying but, after 2 sessions, flew for 6 hours on a turbulent plane in a state of calm.
Hypnotherapy is even effective for physical ailments. I recently worked with a client who had a horrible rash, and it was eased within 24 hours of her session.
I include a spiritual aspect in the hypnotherapy sessions that I offer when the client indicates an interest. I believe that in a state of hypnosis it is easy to connect with the higher self to gain insight and wisdom about personal healing, purpose and/or direction. Additionally, I facilitate Past Life Regression hypnotherapy sessions that allow for a client to explore an issue that might have been carried over from another lifetime or what is perceived as another lifetime entirely.
Hypnosis is not about mind control, nor can anyone get stuck in a hypnotic state. During the sessions I facilitate, clients are in a peaceful state of relaxation and are deeply focused on their experience.
I often hear that people think that their mind is too busy to be hypnotized, but that’s not accurate. Hypnosis is a natural state. Everyone experiences hypnosis a few times a day. Like when a person watches a movie…the thinking mind is quiet, and there is an undistracted focus on the screen. Driving some distance and not really remembering how you got there is also a state of hypnosis.
During the interactive sessions that I facilitate, clients are awake, aware, and in-control throughout the entire time. They remember everything and are always surprised by how SIMPLE it is to make huge changes for themselves.
Hypnotherapy is holistic, effective, efficient, and SO easy!
What matters most to you? Why?
It brings me so much JOY to hear about the positive shifts and changes that my clients experience after a session.
I feel like my work is important and needed in this time of struggle and difficulty.
I want everyone to know about the amazing effectiveness of hypnotherapy. I wish all of the misunderstandings that have come from bad Hollywood movies, Tik Tok reels and stage hypnosis would fade away.
