Inspiring Conversations with Svetlana Andrianova Fisher of The Honeysuckle Tea House and Farm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Svetlana Andrianova Fisher.

Hi Svetlana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My husband Jeff and I feel honored to steward this land we call the Honeysuckle Tea House and Farm. The Honeysuckle Tea House began as an apothecary café, and over time we’ve nurtured it into a working regenerative farm where nature and human experience meet in unforgettable ways. What began as a place for tea has matured into a full expression of land-stewardship, hospitality and living economy. We are blending farming, events venue, public events and farm-to-glass beverages in a way that celebrates the seasons and the people who gather here.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any meaningful journey, it has required both, grace and grit. We’ve been very fortunate to have the trust and support of our client community, especially when we transitioned from being primarily a café / tea shop to becoming a farm-based events venue. Our clients embraced that evolution wholeheartedly and thanks to them, the Honeysuckle Tea House and Farm quickly grew into one of the region’s most respected and sought-after settings for weddings, retreats, and celebrations.

We also feel blessed to have a team of exceptional individuals who bring the farm to life every day: from tending the land and gardens to curating unforgettable experiences for our guests. The people behind the Honeysuckle truly make it shine.

Of course, there are always challenges. Operating a working farm and hospitality business means navigating weather, seasonality, supply chains, and the ever-changing rhythm of nature itself. We try to meet each obstacle with problem solving and creativity, and the perspective that every challenge is an opportunity to adapt and improve.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Honeysuckle Tea House and Farm?
The Honeysuckle Tea House is part of a working regenerative farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It is a place where sustainability, hospitality, and community intersect. We grow herbs, fruits, and botanicals that make their way into our teas, elixirs, and farm-based beverages, and we host private events that celebrate nature and connection.

What truly sets the Honeysuckle farm apart is that every experience here, whether a wedding, retreat, or farm dinner, is rooted in the rhythms of the land. Our event spaces are designed to complement that natural beauty. The venue, shaded by vines, and surrounded by gardens, offers a setting unlike any traditional farm barn or banquet hall. It’s elegant yet organic – a place where a 150-guest wedding feels both refined and relaxed in nature.

Sustainability is embedded in what we do. From our use of reclaimed materials to our on-site herb cultivation and pollinator-friendly practices, the farm itself is a living example of how beauty and environmental responsibility can coexist.

Before taking on Honeysuckle, I spent years in the corporate world. I was advising global companies on strategy and organizational development. I’m deeply grateful for those experiences, because they gave me the tools to bring structure and purpose to something much more personal: building a family of regenerative farms and venues that serve both people and the planet.

What I’m most proud of is the way Honeysuckle has evolved into a brand that inspires, where guests feel taken care off, where the land is nurtured. I love that every event tells a story.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe the kind of work we do at Honeysuckle: connecting people to land, nature, and each other is becoming more important than ever. As technology and AI reshape so many industries and parts of our daily life, the human need to slow down, feel the earth beneath our feet, and be part of something real will only grow stronger.

In the coming decade, I see farms and agritourism venues like ours becoming cornerstone for reconnection. These are not just places to visit, but experiences that remind people of what’s essential. As a mother myself, my hope is that families will continue seeking meaningful ways to spend time together outdoors, to show their children where food and beauty come from, and to build memories that don’t require a screen.
Agritourism revenue, in turn, helps us make farms more sustainable, protect the farmland from development and preserve the beautiful green spaces in our rural buffer.

Furthermore, at Honeysuckle, we feel honored to host so many weddings and gatherings that mark the beginning of new families. In a time when life feels increasingly complex and less affordable, these meaningful events we feel so honored to witness fill us with deep optimism about the future. Every celebration here affirms that people value commitment, community, and the simple joy of being present with one another.
