Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Amethyst Jones of Charlotte

Amethyst Jones shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Amethyst, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first hour looks like working out, meditating and getting prepared for the day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Amethyst, the founder and creative force behind Miahna Moon. What began in 2021 as a simple act of self-care during the uncertainty of the pandemic soon evolved into a true passion. I poured my first creations in my kitchen and from that moment, I knew I had found something special.

Miahna Moon was born from a desire to bring calm into everyday life and to transform ordinary spaces into moments of peace, warmth, and luxury.

Our candles are more than fragrance, they’re an experience and we’re working on perfecting that moment.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Fear has served it’s purpose and must be released. I have started believing in myself and trusting my process. Nothing is going to be perfect and running a small business is a growing process.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I think about closing my business a lot when sales are slow or I get overwhelmed. Then I remember why I started making candles, to relax my mind when things get hectic. I want people to feel what I feel when they light our candles. My WHY keeps me going.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie is Tthat the market is over saturated and there’s not enough room for what we as candle makers do. There are tons of established large and small candle business and more popping up daily. It’s important to watch competitors and what works but staying authentic to my brand.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop procrastinating and go all in. Work on building a brand that lasts well after I’m gone.
