Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Anita Lynette Hagans of Raleigh

We recently had the chance to connect with Anita Lynette Hagans and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Anita Lynette, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
That’s a great question—and one I’ve actually been exploring with others over the past few weeks. I can say with confidence that the path is being walked. I recently rebranded my services to include Psychotherapy, while continuing to offer wellness services such as Reiki Healing and Herbal Consultations.
In the early stages of this journey, I was definitely wandering. There wasn’t much consistency in how I approached my business or envisioned its growth. But walking the path requires transformation—it calls for surrender, openness to guidance, and trust in the divine direction. The mission hasn’t changed, but the journey itself unfolds step by step, with shifts and adjustments along the way.
I believe the walk continues. There’s no final destination—only ongoing climbs toward deeper growth and alignment.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Anita Lynette Hagans, Owner and Therapist at Inspired 2 Change Life Integrated Therapy and Wellness Center, PLLC.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (LCSWA), I specialize in supporting adolescents (ages 12–17) and adults of all ages who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, overthinking and intrusive thoughts, self-esteem issues, depression, life transitions, codependent relationships, and more.

At Inspired 2 Change Life Holistic Therapy and Wellness, PLLC, our mission is to provide authentic, compassionate, multicultural, mindful, and evidence-based holistic mental health and wellness services. We are committed to fostering growth, balance, and alignment in each individual’s journey toward healing. Our approach is rooted in partnership—working collaboratively with clients to nurture mental well-being within both emotional and physical contexts.

I’m currently expanding our wellness offerings to further engage with the community. This includes planning monthly Reiki shares, Reiki certification classes, support groups, and wellness fairs. I’m excited about the opportunity to deepen our impact and create more spaces for healing and connection.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Sometimes, people simply grow apart. But more often, what truly fractures relationships is the loss of trust, a lack of accountability, and poor communication. Healing begins when we learn to communicate effectively and take responsibility—especially when we’ve fallen short or when misunderstandings have caused harm.
Restoring broken bonds requires humility, love, and trust. It’s a mutual process where both individuals must be willing to accept responsibility, establish healthy boundaries, and approach each other with compassion and empathy. Honest and authentic dialogue is the foundation for rebuilding connection and fostering growth.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering or life journey? Personally, I don’t view it as suffering—I see it as a series of hard but necessary life lessons. Throughout my journey, I’ve learned to hold tightly to appreciation, even when it feels out of reach or obscured by hardship. Staying present and using past challenges as stepping stones has been essential.

I often reflect on the lessons found in the Book of Job, which remind me that even when everything seems lost, faith in the Divine Creator and a spirit of gratitude can sustain and restore us. My guiding mantra is: Restore. Heal. Transform. It’s a truth I choose to stand in and live by.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
True integrity begins with knowing your self-worth. We can be knowledgeable and skilled, but without integrity and a deep understanding of our value, our goals and aspirations lose meaning. It’s essential that we honor ourselves, take accountability, and communicate with honesty and authenticity. Growth starts when we commit to being people of integrity—setting healthy boundaries, showing compassion, and living in alignment with our values.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I truly believe I’m living out my purpose. Being a healer and guiding others feels like a calling—something I was doing long before I chose this career. My empathetic nature naturally draws people seeking support, and it’s clear that this path fits who I am. Each day, I see how the Creator continues to affirm and shape this journey.
