Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Chai

Chai shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Chai, we really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions about my business is that I’m just selling soap, sage, or skincare products. But Chai’s Healing Corner was never just about products – it started as my personal sanctuary. I had an altar where I practiced journaling, meditation, yoga, affirmation – all the healing modalities that helped me find myself again. Over time, I transformed those deeply personal rituals into a business that could offer the same kind of healing and empowerment to others.

This isn’t just a business. It’s a ministry. It’s a space rooted in advocacy for women’s mental health and the belief that self-care is a sacred, revolutionary act. We teach that healing doesn’t have to be a luxury. You can start with what you have – even if it’s just talking to yourself with kindness in the mirror.

My products are intentionally crafted with reiki energy, love, affirmations, and good vibes. When people use them, it’s not just skincare – it’s a healing experience. It’s a reminder that you are worthy, you are powerful, and you can pour into yourself daily.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Chai, and I’m the creator of Chai’s Healing Corner Holistic and Metaphysical Artistry. At its heart, my work centers on self-care as a sacred act and on advocating for women’s mental health. I use the elements of the Earth – herbs, oils, fire, water, spirit – to create intentional products that support people on their healing journey. I like to think of myself as an alchemist or an earth bender – someone who transforms pain into medicine.

What makes Chai’s Healing Corner unique is that everything I create is born from personal transformation. This isn’t just a brand – it’s a living, breathing extension of my own healing story. In 2018, I went through a miscarriage during a very difficult time in my life, and it shook me to the core. That experience led me to a womb healing journey with a powerful ‘sister circle’. We studied ancestral wisdom, learned how to honor our bodies, used herbs as medicine, practiced Kemetic yoga, and did deep altar work. That healing saved me – and I knew I couldn’t keep it to myself.

What began as private spiritual rituals – like herbal spirit baths and affirmations – turned into friends asking me to make them the same things. So, I began creating body butters, soaps, bath salts, and intention-based candles, all infused with reiki and love. I create from the same place I once hurt. Every product is a tool for transformation, just like it was for me.

Right now, I’m continuing to build my product line, hold sacred space for others, and teach that healing doesn’t have to be a luxury – it can begin right where you are.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people – and what restores them?
I think bonds are often broken by the very things that are missing – honest communication, trust, and the space to grow – whether together or apart. Whether it’s a romantic relationship, a platonic friendship, or family, when someone can’t articulate their needs or feel heard, it can lead to resentment. Poor communication and lack of emotional safety will wear a connection down over time.

On the flip side, those same things – when they’re reintroduced – can help restore a bond. Open, honest dialogue. Accountability. A willingness to listen and grow. And sometimes, time. Time doesn’t heal everything, but it can give people the room to reflect and return with a different level of understanding. Of course, some bonds aren’t meant to be restored – and that’s okay too. People grow, and outgrowing others is part of life.

Restoration, if it’s possible, requires trust, boundaries, and the courage to say, “This is what I need going forward.” It’s not about perfection – it’s about compromise, clarity, and mutual respect.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You were always beautiful – period. You never needed validation from the outside world, from a relationship, or from anyone else to confirm that. Your beauty was never up for debate. You were always enough, just as you were. You’re allowed to love what you love, to express yourself in ways that feel true, and to take up space. You don’t have to blend in – you were never meant to. You were made to stand out. You were made to feel deeply, to be seen, to be heard, and to walk in your uniqueness without shame.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
I believe so, yes. The public version of me has shown up in many different forms – whether through my makeup artistry, my personal platforms, or now through Chai’s Healing Corner. I’ve always been someone who shares the good, the bad, and the in-between. Vulnerability has never been something I’ve run from.

Over the years, I’ve actually become more authentic online. I realized that staying quiet about my real life might be keeping someone else quiet, too. And I never want that. I want to live in my truth as openly as I can – because someone out there might be struggling to find their voice. They might feel ashamed, alone, or like no one would understand what they’re going through. So, if I can show up honestly, maybe I can help them feel a little less isolated.

That said, I’ve also learned to be mindful. Social media can be cruel and triggering, and as someone who already deals with depression, I’ve had to learn how to protect my peace. So, while I don’t overshare like I used to, what I do share is always real.

And since I work from home and work a nontraditional work schedule, most people experience me online. But if you’re ever blessed to share real space with me, you’ll meet the same person – raw, honest, and grounded. Unless I don’t feel safe – then I’ll protect my energy and stay quiet. But authenticity is the thread that runs through it all.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think what people may misunderstand most about my legacy is how deeply spiritual and ancestral my work truly is. On the surface, it might look like I’m just making skincare products, wrapping sage, or stringing a few waist beads – but what I’m actually doing is offering tools for people to remember who they are at their core. This isn’t just a business; it’s a mission rooted in soul work.

I’m a free spirit. I move with intention, not convention. While I do have structure, I live in flow – and I know that my purpose here isn’t tied to traditional definitions of success or religion. I don’t subscribe to organized, structured belief systems. My connection is direct: to Spirit, to Earth, to my Ancestors, to the women who came before me and the ones still finding their way.

Before Chai’s Healing Corner ever existed, I had to wake up and remember who I was. This life is not my first. I’ve walked this plane before, and I came back with work to do. My legacy is about giving others the tools to heal, to reclaim their power, and to reconnect with their truth – especially the parts of them the world tried to make them forget.

So yes, some may see just the product. But the real offering is energetic, spiritual, ancestral – and eternal.
