Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful goes back to my childhood in High Point. I didn’t have titles, degrees, or businesses back then, but what I did have was a deep awareness that my experiences—both the good and the painful—could be used for something bigger than me. I remember being a young girl and realizing that people listened when I spoke from the heart, especially other kids who felt overlooked or unheard.
That was the first moment I understood what power really was: not control, not fame, but the ability to impact someone’s perspective, uplift their spirit, and show them another way. That spark stayed with me, and it’s the same power that fuels everything I do today—leading women, guiding children, building businesses, and pouring back into the community that raised me.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
“Baby girl, you are so much stronger than the world will ever give you credit for—and one day that strength will become your superpower. Hold on to your heart, your voice, and your purpose. Everything you’re going through is shaping you into the woman who will change lives, build doors where there were none, and light up paths for people who thought they were stuck in the dark. Keep going… you’re becoming someone extraordinary.”

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is real—but she’s not the whole me. What people see is the strength, the leadership, the accomplishments, and the purpose-driven woman who shows up for her community. That’s all true. That’s all me.
But the parts that don’t get posted—the quiet healing, the self-doubt I’ve fought through, the tears that came before the triumphs, the moments I had to choose faith over fear—those are real too. I just don’t lead with them.
So yes, the public me is real… she’s just the version of me that has learned how to turn pain into purpose and how to use her voice to empower others. The private me is the foundation that made her possible.
Together, they’re both authentic. One is the testimony, and the other is the journey.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
People will probably misunderstand how much of my legacy was built from moments no one ever saw. It’s easy to look at the organizations I’ve created, the books I’ve written, the women and children I’ve empowered, and assume it all came from confidence, strategy, or having everything figured out.
But the truth is, my legacy was shaped in the quiet, unglamorous trenches—healing from cancer, growing through adversity, learning to lead while still learning myself, and carrying my community even on days when I felt empty.
Some may think my legacy is about entrepreneurship or influence, but it’s really about transformation. They may see the outcomes and overlook the inner work, the sacrifices, and the deep intention behind every project, every business, every act of service.
What might be most misunderstood is that my legacy isn’t about what I built—it’s about who I became while building it, and how many people discovered their own power along the way.
