Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Molly Blaeser of Advance

Molly Blaeser shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Molly, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: When was the last time you felt true joy?
I’ve been feeling so much true joy lately!

Revealing the cover art for my debut novel; sharing the release date announcement (Oct. 17th); and just before writing this: discovering that my debut novel is available for preorder across online bookstores.

I’ve dreamed of this moment for 20 years and can’t believe it’s finally happening!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Molly Blaeser. I started as The Disney Freak’s Blog and even worked at Walt Disney World through the Disney College Program.

However, once I returned home, I realized that I wanted to expand my brand to include each and every “Molly moment,” hence the name change: Moments with Molly.

Lately, I’ve been focusing on my writing career! 20 years ago, I wrote a fantasy novel. Now, after lots of developing, ‘Origins (Book One of The Snook Saga)’ is being published October 17th by Gold Dust Publishing.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandma. She’s always encouraged my dreams and creativity.

When I signed my book publishing contract, the very first phone call I made was to tell her the news.

Her 90th birthday is actually the day after my debut novel’s release date. I am so very grateful she’ll be able to witness this dream of mine come to fruition.

She’s forever my favorite person.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
There will be dark days that become even darker nights, when you aren’t sure if you’ll see any morning light. But I am proof that you will — and you can.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I have an idea for a standalone novel that doesn’t take place in my fantasy world. But I made a promise to myself: I won’t write it until I finish ‘The Snook Saga,’ as a sort of reward for completing the bigger project.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that people will connect with the characters I wrote.

I remember going to Minnesota Renaissance Festival with my sister, also a writer. Mother of Dragons was a popular costume that year. I turned to my sister and said, “Do you think someday people will dress up as our characters? What will that be like?”

For me, the concept of someone interpreting my characters in their own way is just so intriguing. I hope to see others bring them to life in ways I could not!
