Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Natalie Murray of Charlotte, Huntersville

Natalie Murray shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Natalie, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Absolutely. I deliver, I adapt, and I raise the bar for myself and those around me—that’s the kind of hire any team would want

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Natalie Murray, founder of the Charlotte Wellbeing Institute, where my focus is on providing empathetic and direct therapy. My practice is built around the belief that no one should feel marginalized or dismissed simply because they don’t fit into society’s idea of the “norm”—whatever that even means.

What makes my work unique is the balance I bring: I’m compassionate and validating, but also clear and straightforward. I don’t shy away from hard conversations, and I help clients explore the patterns, fears, and pressures that shape their lives while giving them concrete tools for growth.

I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate challenges around intimacy, identity, and healing from relational wounds. Many of my clients come to me because they feel like they don’t “fit” in traditional spaces, and I want them to know that here, they do.

Right now, I’m also building group programs and resources that tackle big, often unspoken issues like sexual shame, infidelity repair, and self-esteem. My mission is to make therapy safe, empowering, and inclusive, while always reminding clients that they are more than the stories they’ve been told about who they “should” be.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds between people often break when we aren’t authentic—when we hold back who we really are, or when fear of hurting someone’s feelings keeps us from speaking honestly. Over time, silence, avoidance, or pretending creates distance, and people start to feel unseen or misunderstood.

Restoration comes through the very thing we often resist: open, loving, and direct communication. When we show up with honesty, even if it feels uncomfortable, we create space for trust to grow again.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Always, always be yourself. Don’t let others decide who you should be. Your voice, your way of moving through the world, and your truth are enough and they always will be.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Such an interesting question! I think a lot of smart, intelligent people get it wrong by assuming that others operate from a purely thoughtful, logical foundation. They expect decisions to be reasoned out like a math problem. But in reality, most of us are guided by feels, vibes, emotions, and the messiness of being human.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
According to my clients, they’d miss the actual sound of my voice! Many of them have told me that they hear parts of our sessions replaying in their heads when they’re making decisions or choosing to move differently in their lives. It’s not just the words, it’s the tone, the reassurance, and the clarity they’ve come to rely on. That echo of our conversations becomes a guide for them, and I think that’s what they’d miss the most.
