Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Paige King Johnson of Angier

Paige King Johnson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Paige King, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I try to start each day with some type of movement whether that’s a workout or getting out in my garden or watering flowers, and then I go on a walk to center my mind for the day. After that, I will make myself breakfast and sit down to do my devotional. I love starting my day this way with intention & calm to hopefully make the rest of the day go that way as well!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Paige King Johnson, a country singer-songwriter originally from Angier, NC now traveling back and forth to Nashville, TN and touring all over the southeast on the weekends.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me all about hard work through a lot of things. First, they have been small business owners & entrepreneurs since before I was born. They have poured their heart & soul into their busienss and have sacrificed so many things in order to keep it afloat and support their employees along the way. And they also raised me on a farm with horses, sheep, rabbits & more, which taught me a lot of responsibility & hard work!

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Music has always been my safe space & my healing power. Whether I was writing it myself or going back to an old favorite for comfort, it’s always been there for me.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My family and friends matter a whole lot to me. As a touring artist, I don’t get a bunch of time at home and I often miss out on milestones like weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Because of that, I try to be really intentional when I am home to spend time with my friends and family to make up for lost time. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them, and I wouldn’t be able to keep going on the hard days without their support.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop worrying about the small stuff & things out of my control. I think we’re all a little guilty of trying to plan everything out to a tee and make things the best we think they can be, but in reality we have very little control over it all.
