We’re looking forward to introducing you to Raymond & Kim Larkin. Check out our conversation below.
Raymond & Kim, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is very important to us. Being honest and having great morals and values in our personal and professional lives hold us accountable to the outcome of our journey.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are Raymond & Kim Larkin of Real Love Music; a duo group that’s been married for 19 years and really enjoy singing together. Our motto is “Bringing fun back to love through music and entertainment”.
Our journey started in 2005 where we were asked to sing for a huge baptism event. This was our first time singing together and folks thought we’d been doing it for years. That’s when we knew there was something special happening. Soon after, we were invited to sing for various occasions.
We had already started writing our own songs and got divinely connected with a local producer (Roderick Carter) in 2007. The genre we coined as “Love and Inspiration’ began. Over the years, we have released 1 full album and 7 singles.
In continuing our music journey, we have hosted live concerts, performed at numerous events, sang the National Anthem at multiple sporting events and recently gotten back into wedding singing.
We are always excited to see where this God-given adventure will take us to next.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to believe that I didn’t have anything unique to bring to the world.
But God has proven to me in many ways that I am special and have been called for a beautiful purpose.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. When we first moved to Greensboro, NC it was a rough time. There were no gigs coming in and we weren’t recording at all.
So we thought maybe Real Love Music had run it’s course.
Thank God we were wrong.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Having good character.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m talking to God.
