Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Tramaine Chamberliss of Raleigh/Wake Forest

We recently had the chance to connect with Tramaine Chamberliss and have shared our conversation below.

Tramaine, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I really want to start directing. I directed my first film but was really nervous. Next time I’ll be more prepared because I fell in love with the craft.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Yes. Well I’m Tramaine Chamberliss a professional screenwriter. Since 2018 I have written over 20 screenplays, series, and short films. I specialize in drama with a depiction of reality that’s unmatched. Currently I am working on upcoming film Real which I plan on releasing 2026. I’m also working on a series from Best Seller Book “Well Balanced” by Terrell Gatling. I offer services for transforming your book into movies script and also helping turn your idea into a full feature.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
A life without God in the forefront. I spent years of my life unfocused. Not knowing exactly who I was because I was weighted down my disappointment and pain. I hated myself at one point and honestly felt cursed. But through God grace and love he gave me purpose.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
In high school I was teased because I was poor and didn’t have the nice things like the other kids. Times I went to school and my lights at home were off or we didn’t have heat so we bathe in basin my the oven in the winter mornings. I cried more now than when I was going through it because it was the norm. My father died when I was 18. I really needed him and I spiral out of control with drinking. I found myself incarcerated 2017 and decided to write my life story. The rest is history.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I really want to write the Dmx series or movie. I feel no one can write it like I can because we had the same struggles.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I tried. I know it didn’t always seem like it but just know my intentions were good. I want them to know I tried.
