Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Sedivy.
Hi Adam, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My wife, Logan, and I, had our second son, Brantley, in September of 2019. Life was great! We had two wonderful boys (Rylan is older brother, born in 2018) and no major issues during delivery. Right as we were settling into to the new normal, we got a call from the doctor that the heel prick blood test came back with some unusual results. Their test had flagged a possible cystic fibrosis diagnosis, but they needed to do more testing to confirm. We did not really know how to process this at the time, since we had never dealt with this disease personally. As we did more research prior to more testing, we realized that this could possibly be a very serious situation.
Unfortunately, after more testing, the diagnosis was confirmed: Brantley had cystic fibrosis. Luckily, since we diagnosed it so early, we were able to start treatments right away. This is a disease that the earlier you start treatment, the better it will be. Still, we were very scared and worried for our boy. This, on top of the pandemic, pretty much left us at home for two years. We couldn’t do too much since the severity of the pandemic was pretty unknown and we could not take any chances.
Thankfully, we made it through the pandemic with minimal complications and Brantley was doing very well. We knew we always wanted to do more to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis, so we brainstormed ideas. In late 2021, we decided that we would do a charity golf tournament in his honor in 2022. All proceeds we raised would go directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). We knew this would be a huge task, so we recruited the help of a few people that were willing and able. Joining us in planning and preparation were the following people: Aunt Jordan and Uncle Garrett, CJ Barone, and Dylan Frank. Also, we had a local course, Bentwinds Golf and Country Club, who was willing to host our tournament. This was our dream team! Each person has been instrumental in its success.
The first year in 2022 went exceedingly well and we donated about $20,000 to the CFF. The first year went so well, that we knew we had the momentum and community to keep it going. In 2023, we donated about $30,000. In 2024 and 2025, we donated $50,000 in each year. So, lifetime so far through four tournaments, we have donated around $150,000 to the CFF. We are so proud of this and honored to have the community that we do that supports our mission as much as we do. The past two years, our tournament has sold out in less than 25 minutes. 36 teams in less than 25 minutes! We often must remind ourselves that this is not normal and our community is amazingly supportive of Brantley and our mission to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Year 1 was the most difficult to prepare as we were starting from scratch. Dylan Frank was extremely helpful in year 1 as he is a former PGA professional who organized and held many tournaments over his career. He really helped us design the tournament and set us up for success.
Going into year 2, we were curious to see if Year 1 was a fluke or if we could have sustainable success. We did not make very many changes, but did have some feedback and altered a few things that have become staples of our tournament. Year 1 did not turn out to be a fluke and year 2 was an even bigger success than year 1.
Years 3 and 4 kept the momentum going and we have a pretty efficient and smooth operation going into Year 5 as well. The template, so to speak, has been created and we are now fine tuning everything to create the best environment and experience for players and sponsors.
We found that the hardest part of the tournament is getting sponsors, but even then we have been lucky that our community supports us so well. We have many sponsors that have sponsored every year and are always finding new sponsors to help further our cause.
Our main rule is to make sure that the players have a good time. Our thought there is that if they have a good time, they will want to come back. Luckily, it appears we have fostered the right environment and many people tell us that it is one of their favorite days of the year. This is kind of backed up with how fast we sell out our tournament. As always, we are taking feedback from the players and fine tuning things as needed.

Brantley’s Buddies mission statement is: United by a love for the game and a passion for making a difference, the Brantley’s Buddies Golf Classic tees off against cystic fibrosis, raising vital funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to support groundbreaking research, life-saving therapies, and unwavering hope for Brantley and the entire CF community.

Logan is an instructional assistant in kindergarten at Willow Spring Elementary School. Same school that our boys go to!
