Hi Ann, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A Raleigh native and former clinical scientist, Ann followed her heart into a new chapter in her spiritual journey after losing her husband of 17 years, discovering unexpected joy and purpose in uniting couples in love. Whether she’s officiating a romantic castle wedding as a Medieval Friar or guiding a barefoot beach elopement, Ann pours her passion into making each ceremony unique. When she’s not celebrating love stories, she’s adventuring with her new husband, cherishing time with her kids and grandkids, and traveling around the world—just like she did in her days performing in European folk dance festivals.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Beginning a new career focusing on creativity to write love stories versus the controlled laboratory environment in her 60s was a leap of faith. Public speaking does not come easily to most people, including Ann. She decided to focus on the couple and keep them calm. This helped her with her first wedding, with 150 people attending. Having a strong why encouraged her to go outside my comfort zone. The law in NC had just changed to same sex weddings, and she wanted to be able to offer weddings to all couples with an open heart. Finding a mentor was a blessing to her, aiding me in my journey. Asking for help can be another obstacle to success. You would be surprised by the willingness of others to help you on your journey.
