Life & Work with Barbara Hart of Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Hart.

Hi Barbara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was 34 when I 1st became a home owner. My real estate agent, challenged me to pursue real estate as career. He stated, if you take the real estate class & pass, get your license, I’ll hire you as a broker. He opened the 1st Remax Franchise in Durham, NC & I was his 1st broker. I had no idea how much my financial life would change after that decision, I never considered real estate as a profession prior. I never imagined life outside of working a 9-5. I was a single mother, who did everything the ‘right’ way, 4 year college, several additional degrees, certifications & I was still in a financial stalemate. Real Estate change my life. & Then I wanted to go back to my artistic roots to pursue my creative passions as well. That is how Spaces with B came along. Would you know it, my Oldest child, my son was my inspiration behind true entrepreneurship.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My business is multi-faceted , the Creative Spaces is the Marketing, Strategy & Design / Spaces is the Real Estate centric. Both are Spaces with B with a specialization. Creative Spaces with B is still in it’s early stages in general (The 1st 5 years). In a post-Covid market, economically stretched market, it’s been a little difficult to obtain the buy-in that I hoped to have for the Creative side of things. From building from the ground up, & being mostly as a party of 1, wearing multiple hats has been a bit taxing & the turn of the real estate market has my seller clients rethinking their strategies quite a bit. But I’m a hard worker & pivot artist, so not much can get me down. I’ve even volunteered my services to not only to share my talents & strengthen my reach but to also obtain that ‘feel good’ feeling of giving back to my community.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My company is Spaces with B, LLC. We have a Creative ‘branch’ & Real Estate ‘branch’ – Each mesh in the middle to provide a unique branding & marketing experience for event marketing, decor, brand development and real estate services. I’ve designed business sites, promoted brands, and managed high school social media digital content delivery. I’ve developed graphics for athletes. Decorated for parties & provided the photobooth fun.

I’m known for ‘wowing’ the audience. I can transform a space to make it unrecognizable & suitable to the event at hand, for example, I could transform a barn into a living room or a living room into a barn – depending upon what the occasion calls for. It’s an experience or the experience of being completely immersed in the moment when I work with a client (this include both creative & real estate). I am most proud of my ability to artistically translate a client’s vision while observing them completely immersed in the moment. I stand out because I care – because outside of the client/professional relationship, I see the complete person – I am the experiences that I help create.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck, I believe in a Divine plan. I will say I pray very hard & let the answers guide me. I work very hard as well to step into the outcomes that I desire. The economy has uniquely impacted my businesses but I’m an artist at pivoting, so I typically am able to find my way.
