Life & Work with Bella LoRe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bella LoRe.

Hi Bella, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Since I was about 13 years old, I have been fascinated with YouTube and the idea that women I looked up to created an entire career out of social media. When I started high school, I decided to start posting YouTube videos. I had no following and felt insecure about my videos. I started to truly take social media seriously when I started college.

I began to grow in my freshman year, and this past fall I transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill. Today, I am a junior studying media and journalism at the Hussman school, and through my social media, I have worked with brands like HBO Max, Bed Bath and Beyond, Amazon, Princess Polly, and many more!

I am so grateful that I decided to go for it, despite my fear of judgment for posting online. I have the most fun job in the world, I can still be a full-time student. Even though I don’t have a huge following, I have made some of the most genuine connections online, and I wouldn’t want to do anything else.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have faced a ton of challenges when it comes to social media, especially as a young person. High school and college are such transformative times in your life, and people can be very quick to judge.

People often don’t understand how hard I work, and how much time goes into shooting, editing, tagging, uploading, planning, negotiating, emailing, and up-keeping my YouTube channel, TikTok, and Instagram content. I am also a full-time student going through the academic challenges of junior year.

Besides this, I think that when it comes to social media, and a lot of other pursuits, self-doubt can be your biggest challenge. I had a hard time continuing to post when I felt I wasn’t accomplishing anything, and negative comments from others can be very discouraging. I’ve come to realize that persevering through these hard moments is truly the epitome of success, and I am so happy I didn’t give up when I was tempted to.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
On YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok I create content centered around the college.

I am proud of all the amazing brands I have worked with, but I think I am most proud of the connection I have made with my audience. I truly value being able to connect with them, and I wouldn’t be able to do all the fun stuff I get to do if people didn’t support me!

How do you define success?
I would define success as doing something every day that brings you joy and fulfillment. You don’t have to be the “best” at something to be successful. You don’t have to have the highest position or the most followers.

You just need to be able to wake up in the morning and do something that you love, whatever that means to you.
