Hi Bill, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I spent the first part of my career in start-ups and already had a passion for wine. When the opportunity presented itself to merge my passion for customer service and wine knowledge, it seemed like the ideal scenario. The business was successful in Charlotte, and we found the ideal location to open in Raleigh earlier this year, where we knew we would find like-minded enthusiasts. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business isn’t always smooth, but more than it being bumpy, it has been a LONG road. Building a membership base and working through the construction process in any setting takes time. We have been surprised by how incredible our members have been in supporting our growth and aligning with our focus on the community aspect of the business. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Our background in customer service has given us a unique perspective on how best to serve our members. Eliminating the day-to-day tasks that come along with this hobby for many has allowed them to focus on what they really appreciate about their passion. The white glove service element of our business creates trust and, maybe more importantly, moments of “wow” where our members feel personally seen and understood. The customization of their experience is critical to how we feel each and every individual deserves to be treated. 

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Our team is tight-knit dedicated to supporting the Cork Vault community as it continues to grow and builds relationships with our members. We are so grateful for the effort they put into every interaction with our members, vendors, and each other. Our membership is so unbelievably kind, enthusiastic, and supportive of what we do and our overall mission.
