Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Lindo.
Brandon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Let’s start with that I have always been an artist. I always had a pencil and paper with me everywhere I went. Having that natural talent, I encountered a problem during my middle school years. That problem was that I went to Catholic school where we wore uniforms and having set days in which we could wear our normal clothes to school. Most of my clothes were considered “hand-me-downs” received from my older brother. Though fashionable clothes, I didn’t feel ownership to them. I would draw in a notebook the type of clothes that I would wear if I made them myself. Fast forward to high school, I went to a technical-vocational high school, and I enrolled in the graphics program to further my artist ambitions. After graduating and majoring in Graphic Marketing-Advertising Design/Communications, I merged my God-given artistic skills and fashion aspirations into my clothing brand, My Visionz Clothing Brand. I have sold my own creative and thought-provoking designs since 2013 and taken up projects to produce merchandise for both private and public businesses and events. I also have assisted others on this clothing brand journey to help them realize their goals.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It most certainly has not been a smooth road. If I may, I would like to refer to use “obstacles” rather than “struggles.” I use that mindset because once an obstacle is overcame, you are no longer hindered to progress, and that to me, is powerful. As to the obstacles that I’ve faced, they have been personal and public. In no particular order, I dealt with imposter syndrome, limited support from family and friends, financial hardship, emotional and physical burnout, not understanding the market, and balancing a social life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Thank you for taking interest in my work. I am an entrepreneur. I own a street clothing brand called My Visionz Clothing Brand, LLC. I also am a freelance Graphic Designer and Artist being that I specialize in art. I am known for both my artwork and my clothing brand. I am most proud of myself for creating my clothing brand. It highlighted my resiliency to bring to reality a dream I had since middle school. I overcame many obstacles to start it and continue it. It has opened many doors for me and allowed me to bring inspiration to others. What sets me apart from the rest of my competition is that all of my artwork and clothing designs are original pieces. I build a relationship with my clients, and I have over a decade of experience in both art and running my business.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I would like this opportunity to first thank God for without Him, nothing is possible. Second, I would like to thank VoyageRaleigh for the platform to share my story. I enjoyed this interview. Finally, I would like to thank the readers for their support in reading our dialogue. I hope that somewhere in my answers, I was able to inspire at least one person to transform their life for the positive by hearing my story in this interview. The main takeaway is treat your God-given talent as sacred. Meaning to identify, harness, refine, and dedicate sharing your talent with the world and watch how what God gave you will inevitably take care of you. Always show gratitude and never stop believing in yourself.
