Life & Work with Courtney Reinhardt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Reinhardt.

Courtney Reinhardt

Hi Courtney, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Since college, I had always been in management, most recently at a credit union in Arizona. I worked really hard and did well in my career, but I didn’t love it. I always wanted to do something that I had more freedom over, but never found anything I was passionate about. I had my first child literally a week before the pandemic in 2020, and once I was back to work, I felt more of an urgency to find something else. Obviously, daycare is insanely expensive, but I longed to be with her more.

One of my employees actually quit to do eyebrows, and I went to see her to get my own done. While chatting with her, I thought, “Why am I not doing this?!” I immediately enrolled in a training, leased my own suite, and started taking clients. I worked both jobs for 13 months before quitting my management role. This was the perfect opportunity for me to have control over my schedule and be home with my babies. I still currently only work on the weekends so I can be with them more. It started because of that, but I quickly found a passion for permanent makeup, running my own business, and connecting with my clients.

In Summer of 2023 we relocated to North Carolina and are absolutely loving it!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh absolutely not! Owning your own business while raising two small children is extremely challenging but so worth it.

I am very driven, so sometimes have to slow myself down and remind myself that I do this to spend more time with my kids. I try to say yes to any opportunity I can, but sometimes I can’t always take every single client because that defeats my purpose.

This industry can also be tough in that you constantly have to find new clients. If you think of hair or lashes, those clients are returning more often, while I only see my clients every 1-3 years! Marketing is constantly evolving and changing.

It can also be tough juggling all the many roles owning your own business. I’m not just doing eyebrows but all of the marketing, cleaning, inventory, accounting, etc. I finally just hired an accountant this year.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I offer permanent makeup, also referred to as cosmetic tattoos. This includes microblading, ombré powder brows, lip blush, saline brow removal, and also 1:1 brow training. I love being able to provide a diverse portfolio, whether my clients are looking to stay very natural or more bold to mimic their makeup. I am most proud when I get the happy tears when my clients see their face in the mirror after their service. It can be stressful getting your face tattooed, so this means so much that they love their results and trust me.

What matters most to you?
Personally, of course, my family. I do this all for them to provide for them and also be able to spend time with them.

Professionally, it is so important to me to operate ethically and provide a comfortable and sanitary environment. I am happy in my work when I align with my clients and listen to their needs and am able to deliver.
