Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Alexander.
Hi Destiny, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started Photo Booth Therapy in 2020 after fasting it was placed on my heart to invest my money in something I enjoy doing. My passion is youth and I knew I needed a way to be able to open my own center up to be able to work with them. So I invested in a Photo Booth and used the money I had saved to invest in me. I always enjoyed taking pictures and looking back on them made me feel happy.
I realized looking at old pictures brought back memories for me. Hence my motto is “Healing Souls Through Memories. I am using the latest technology to bring awareness to self-healing when possible simply by smiling and encouraging guests if they can not self heal that’s ok, speak with a Therapist or a life coach.
At Photo Booth Therapy, we aim to create spaces fostering confidence, positivity, and beauty. We encourage you to keep that infectious smile and energy after walking away from our exclusive Photo Booths including our Mirror X, 360 Video Booths, Roamers, and Aura Photo Booths. The environment we provide will leave you and your guests feel special while capturing precious, lifetime memories!
We’re not just another photo booth rental company. We provide you and your guests with one of the most effective sessions you will ever have in your life. Ready? Set, Snap! Enjoy your very own 2 Minute Therapy. We specialize in fun events catering to Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Burlington, New Bern, and the surrounding areas for all sorts of events such as Corporate and marketing events, fundraisers, weddings, proms, graduations, holiday parties, trade shows, birthday parties, funerals and employee appreciations.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a very smooth road. We have had a few hick-up along the way but overall we focus on our customers and giving them what they want. We are a very customer-driven company, I think that’s what has made this journey great thus far.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I obtain my undergrad degree in Social Work from North Carolina Central University. I use to think I wanted to be a Therapist. But after doing case management for five years I realized I did not want to hear people’s problems from the couch. I love to be involved in the community and I knew my work should be more community-based.
I went on to receive my Master in Public Administration. Although I went to college, I started out as a high school dropout who fit just about every stereotype there was, high school dropout, I ended up getting pregnant with my son at 19, whose father would be sentenced to prison for 25 years when I was 8 months pregnant. I was determined, not to allow society to count me and my son out at the time. I told myself, he would not go to prison like his father which society told me he had a higher chance of going because his father was in prison. My son graduated from The School of Science and Math and received a full ride to North Carolina University in Chapel Hill Nc. I later had a daughter who has excelled in school as well.
My passion is giving back and helping the youth. I also am a proud member of The Durham Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. What sets me apart from others is I am using technology to bring awareness of the importance of talking to someone. I also am using the money I have made from the Photo Booth business to open up my Youth Center that’s called P.O.O.F. It’s a double acronym that stands for Planning Our Own Future or Planning Our Own Funeral. Located at 1100 N Miami Blvd suite 601 in Durham NC. I currently have 6 different styles of photo Booth and have no plans on slowing down.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My family and friends matter to me most, especially my kids, without them I think I would have been a lost cause. My family has always been important to me and always will be. My motto is God first family second and my business third. Oh and I can not forget our Dog Pebbles she is a 7-year-old German Shepard.
