Life & Work with Eric Walton of Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Walton

Hi Eric, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my handyman business just about towards the back end of the pandemic as I had worked in and out of the trades and always had a love to work with my hands and happen to be a bit of a tool junkie myself, so I put all of that together and started this business and have been doing it ever since and have been loving it each step of the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has definitely not been the easiest thing and even still some days it has the usual ups and downs that come with the field. Gaining clients and building a reputation are a big challenge when your a one man band really. The best thing about it though is that it’s not always a slump and once client bases were made the reputation went off from there. I still of course put my name out there to gain more leads as I don’t get everything I put out for, but now things are smoother to get leads and most of the times now the leads find me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a handyman and I do a bit of everything but I specialize in residential electrical work. I don’t yet have anything I’m most proud of I like to take enjoyment in anything that I do along with taking pride and respect in all that I do which has helped in setting me apart from others. The biggest thing that I’ve heard is the communication that I give with my clients, I’ve been told many times I’m the best with communicating to them more than others will do.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Caution is the main thing I’ve learned along with aiming to do what makes you happy.
