

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erik Gotelli.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I founded my company, Daydream Events, to provide the Triangle area with high-quality Princess Character Look-a-Likes. These events will stick with the child as they grow up with fond memories of having their favorite characters interact with them in person. It is my goal for Daydream Events L.L.C to always provide luxurious performances at affordable prices. Having a background in music & theater, I always pushed my team to bring these beloved Princess Characters to life. A child shouldn’t have to miss out on having their favorite characters come to life due to a high price tag. With the belief that no detail is too small, I strove hard to make sure all cast members are as realistic as possible when portraying each Princess. Even if it’s just for an hour, I have seen the powerful impact that a princess can make on a child’s life. Whether it is through our special events, charity appearances, grand royal balls, or our birthday party visits, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to be treated like royalty.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am so focused on making sure the presentation at the physical events is seamless that my most prevalent ongoing challenge has been social media and digital marketing. It truly takes an effort to make sure that my practices are accurately translated to the online sphere, and obviously the children take priority, defaulting my online presence to the backseat. I am becoming more educated with online skills and methods, as in this society, your online footprint is just as impactful as your physical one.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Having a background in the cosmetology industry is definitely beneficial to my company, as it allows me the ability to make the appearance of my cast as realistic as possible. This includes makeup, wigs, and costume design. “Small details” like shoes, accessories, etc. is often overlooked by larger companies, but as a small business owner, it is the smallest details that actually bring the big picture to life. Additionally, my background in music and theater is a transferrable skill to ensuring the perfection of our live performances, to immerse the children in the experience as if they were in their favorite films. My attention to detail sets me apart.
How do you define success?
Success is not a tangible item. It is something that is felt. My success ultimately is dependent on the happiness and fulfillment of my cast, my clients, and most importantly, the children. The expression is that if you love what you do, you will never have to work a day in your life. Well, what I do is my life. It is what inspires me to further my career while simultaneously giving back to my community in a creative, artistic way.
