Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Carver.
Hi Erin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been a licensed esthetician since July of 2018. I moved to the Triangle at the start of my career to go to school at The Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill, after a push from a former manager who saw bigger things for me than waiting tables & bartending. I could not be more thankful to her for the encouragement to do more.
After starting classes I quickly fell in love with the science of skincare, and the instant gratification of waxing. I was constantly watching videos and reading treatment plans in my downtime. With a new drive of my own I made school a full time job, going 39.5 hours a week (the max amount allowed by the state) while also bartending locally in Durham.
Coming from the small town of Kitty Hawk, NC I knew working for a chain wasn’t going to give me the homey work environment I craved – so when I was offered a position working for a new small business I jumped at the chance. That position provided me the opportunity to learn and grow, while making clients feel seen. I am forever grateful for the almost 7 years I spent there. There does come a point though when you stay put for too long and instead of continuing to grow you start to shrink. That was when I knew it was time for me to make my own space, and created Bare Rituals.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing is ever easy. I am very fortunate to have been able to open my doors with clients that wanted to continue to support me, and I am forever grateful for that!

I own and operate Bare Rituals, LLC; a waxing and skincare studio specializing in uplifting everyone who comes in to feel their best selves. I believe personal care services should be attainable for everyone. I’m proud to have created a space that is comfortable and welcoming, while offering inclusive pricing to take guess work and decision fatigue out of the equation when booking. Skincare services are customized to each individual’s skin and what is best for them that day – this includes the best enhancements and advanced treatments to facilitate that goal.
How do you think about happiness?
My clients make me happy, truly. I’m excited to come to work every day and chat while doing a job I absolutely love doing. Esthetics also makes me happy. Being able to share my expert knowledge in the field not only with my clients, but other estheticians as well is a wild and rewarding feeling.
