Today we’d like to introduce you to Fran Giannuzzi.
Hi Fran, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Several Italian Americans got together in 2017 to try to organize a festival in Glenwood South to promote Italian culture. We started with a very small 1st festival with around 500 people and we have grown to over 15,000 and we are in our 8th year.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not a smooth road, we search for board members, chairs and volunteers continuously. It takes a village to put on a one day festival. IT has been wonderful working with the Town of Apex.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a senior citizen and I worked as an administrative assistant so I was extremely organized and knew that we could pull off this festival. I am most proud if the fact that the Mayor of Apex invited us to come to Apex. We are doing our 3rd festival in Apex this year and it keeps getting better.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Staying true to my heritage makes me very happy especially when I have been able to pass this down to my grandchildren.
