Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Willoughby.
Hi Hannah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
We will just go ahead and take a deep dive into my life here… but in January 2015, I received a double lung transplant over at UNC. Me and my mom had to move to Chapel Hill for 3 months, so we had a ton of time to explore new places and restaurants. It was around the time food Instagrams were starting up, so I figured I might as well!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Sometimes, it’s easy to get in a rut. I’ll look at my camera roll to go and post something and realize I haven’t eaten out in a while. Or I’ll post something I think is good or will be a hit, and it’s a flop. Sometimes, you can’t ever tell!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Not sure if you want to know about my job or my Instagram, but here’s both
I work at the Wolfpack Club- we raise money for athletic facilities and student-athlete scholarships. I grew up as a state fan and love sports, so this is the perfect job for me.
I try to nightlight local restaurants in North Carolina as well as North Carolina-made products. I only post pictures of food I have eaten or like- I have to fully vet it and will not share anything that I do not enjoy!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Real job-
I think we will see less people attending sporting events, with the cost of tickets rising and people being able to create a gameday experience at home. Also, the obvious NIL, I think at some point, they will have to place limitations on how much athletes are receiving and making sure it is actual NIL and not “pay to play.”
Instagram-
As much as I dislike making reels… reels I think will be more prevalent than they already are.
